What are you smoking? Our QQ paid off?

Russ said he was reading old information when he made the roadmap, and that Alpine was there to stay anyways.

Since PGI is adding bad maps into the rotation to appease people that think more maps is always better...

They should re-add the original River City and Forest Colony and Caustic Valley too.

because removing a viable map is dumb?

No... Because I have heard several times from multiple sources (credible and questionable) that the PGI quest to update maps led to scrapping any changes to Alpine Peaks. That the project turned to building a map from the ground up. All information I have received pointed to the map being replaced. Whatever... New map! Yay!

Was hoping to hear of at least a few changes to the map.

Every once in a while, I'll call out in a lowside drop on Alpine, "Hey, you guys want to go old school and roll North behind radio tower, hit them from the side?".

Most of the time the Pubs will go with it, just hearing someone make a polite suggestion goes a HUGE way to getting buy in. And then the guys on noob hill can't handle the change and we win.

I do wish the spawns would be adjusted though just to promote new strategies.

The map (and its spawn points) is what enables 1 team to immediately climb up a huge mountain with ease to gain the high ground and lots of cover.

How do you expect the map to improve without changing it?

Don't fight on the hill like every other zombie swarm out there?

Tired of fighting on Mt. Derp? Then force the enemy to fight in another place of your choosing ... and butcher them.

Ans Russ has stated that they are looking into future revisions in the roadmap.

"As Polar Highlands is a new map and not a redesign of Alpine Peaks, Alpine Peaks will remain in rotation in its current form for now. However, we’re going to continue looking at simpler ways of improving Alpine, such as through the adjustment of spawn locations."

Shoot no, that's my second favorite map in the game!

PGI better not ruin it.

What is the complaint with Alpine?

I do hate that the Assaults always spawn at the farthest spawn point....

Alpine is here to stay. Russ stated on Twitter that Alpine is staying in the rotation. This confuses me.

The question is are they still creating a newer map based on Alpine?

PGI should really add the previous, older maps back into rotation. It is not like they making maps via assembly line. When they make major changes to a map, they had the new map and keep the old map. It is not like MMOGs that have tons of zones, then remake a zone here and there to update the graphics.

Unless a map is so wrecked or screwed up, there really is no reason to exclude an original map.

Edit just saw the post by Bishop...!!

Actually I kind of like Mordor because most people just overheat while I blast them to pieces.

I love the old forest! Small, compact and because of its history, it's iconic for MWO.

Don't be fooled. What people ask for in the forum or vote for in suggestion has no weight, never had.

Why? If you dont like it dont vote for it. Theres no need to remove it with the voting system in place.

I imagine they will. Its obvious some work was already done on the new Polar Highlands map. It wouldnt make sense to abandon it. My guess is both Alpine and Polar Highlands will be in the rotation.

However I do hope they eventually revamp Alpine. I still think they should turn it into a CW map.

Yeah you made it. You "saved" that sorry excuse for a multiplayer map. It's one-sided and prefers long range setups way too much. Even if you keep insisting it can be played a different way *no one does it*. "Friendly suggestions" don't help with that. It's like trying to play Terra Therma without using the crater *no one does it*. Even if it's highly advisable in the case of Terra Therma. Terra Therma would be an incredibly decent map without the crater. In the case of Alpine... the team at the back of the mountain is in a clear advantage. They can set up snipers on the hill on the far end, they have cover in any direction, no matter from where they are flanked, and pushing them to brawl only is feasible if you do it uphill. The team on the top of the mountain can set up a wide firing lane and has dozens of spots to peek from(which, in turn, hardly anyone does either).

Devs are swayed by a vocal minority. 445 votes represent how much percent of the playerbase? Not to mention threads like this specifically rally people which are in favour of the suggestion and not against it. A player who doesn't like Alpine probably doesn't bother to click a thread called "Save Alpine".

Cause people whine and ***** and Russ gives in... He was doing so well too with listening to the community about the Warhammer visuals.

Its not that Alpine is a 'BAD' map, but its design doesn't work well with the current balance of MWO in 2 of its 3 game modes. Conquest is literally the only good game mode because it forces you to get off the hill or lose, at which point its just a deathball fight in the cap cluster, but hey, still 1000x better than the hill.

Alpine desperately needs a revision pass, like Forest Colony, River City and more specifically similar to Caustic Valley. Its already a large map, it just needs some changes. PGI made a new map for us and were going to take Alpine out of rotation (from what I understand) until they finally did update it.

But, the QQ try hard meta players who like to hill hump on Alpine all whined and now its staying in.

People ***** about the game being poorly balanced, but then ask to keep a map that promotes that poor balance in the game...lolwut.

It always does. PGI go to pieces so fast in the face of tears that ppl are killed by the shrapnel in a thousand yard radius

Why would you divide resources to create a new map for public queue, to replace/update an old map that people complained about constantly, only to pretend like you were misunderstood and leave the map you intended to replace/update in rotation? I confused myself just typing this.

Why dont they just remove the damn hill?
