Some of you may already know me from mwo's subreddit where i occasioanlly post feature suggestions for mwo. This is the first chapter of a series called "Thereshalbechange". Over the course of the series i will be freely talk about my thoughts on mwo and it's possible future development. Ok, so let's get started.
Today i want to discuss a small, but very apparent problem that could be fixed rather easily: The chatboxes in the client. Chats are overall akward to enter or are just not there when
you need them (faction chat f.e.).
I personally think it would help a lot if we had a single, consistent chatbox that had
all the different chats organized in taps (global,faction,sfg...).
When you login, this chat box will have its regular size and will be located in the
bottom left hand/right hand corner of your client.
The standard chat-tabs (global,faction,LFG) should already be opened on default.
You can now add new tabs (for example if you have a private chat with a friend),
move the box around or adjust its size.
Here's a small sketch i've thrown together in a couple of minutes, just so that you
guys can imagine what i am talking about:
Designwise they could actually keep the futuristic-transparent look of the faction
chat that is already implemented in the client.
This simple feature would not only lower the learning curve for new players since
they could immediatly talk to veterans, but would also help to make the game feel a
little less "soulless".

PS: One more thing about the current faction chat: They absolutely ABSOLUTELY need to take this "message of the day" thing down. This thing blocks the whole chatbox. I bet the participation rate on the faction chat would go up by at least 20% if they'd just remove it.
