Liao has been in general a great ally against Davion and partner to Marik. But then someone in their HR department went crazy and allowed some real riff raff into the mix who did not know which way to point their cantankerous collection of contigenous junk of mechs at.

We at Marik are connosiurs of riff raff so we know about riff raff when we speak of riff raff. We pride ourselves on having refined the art and being the riffiest riff that ever riffed a raff. Therefore, we know of what we speak of when the subject of riff raff comes up.

And theyyyyyy were RIFF RAFF! Plentiful but of low quality and ran amok like common hottentots! That, as you may well know is just not acceptable among the great houses. Acting like hottentots! pfaugh! Running amok no less! Why it's taken all our shenanigans to keep things in perfectly working abnormality!

But soon, things will return to the accepted state of being and we can go back to ze good old days of waging war allied together giving wedgies to Davion whilst continuing our Arbys<>Panda exchange and other assorted interstellar space bricabrac.

Davion is the perfect Mary Sue neo-America faction.

Liao is basically the opposite of that.

People like Marik and FRR because they actually have some character.

The other IS houses including Steiner (neo-America's BFF) and Kurita (Yellow peril Japan in the 80s) are pretty stupid and 1-dimensional.

The BT fluff is actually really bad.

99% of the books read like cheap fanfiction. I had about three dozen of the books growing up. Went back to read a few about a year ago. Couldn't even finish the three I took to the field with me. Got back, grabbed the Kerensky trilogy and Wolves on the Border, and donated the rest to the local library.

We've always been the smallest faction in MechWarrior, even back in the old GEnie/MW1 days. We also end up with some oddballs- if MWO hadn't burnt so many bridges, it'd have ended up full of Goons. Instead, we got the Russians.

Being a perpetual Davion punching bag didn't help early on, either. MWO, we've got a bit more bite since Davion can't zerg us and there's more potential pressure from Kurita, Marik, and even the Clans.

Heck, we've been literally fighting over the same planet for a week now. We take it, Davion takes it back during our low-population hours, repeat.

If we had attacks per faction lore, any Liao attack would be preceded by a special ops team sabotaging key defenses and equipment (or getting caught in the process) before the grunts ever touch down. Sometimes without the rival being aware of the sabotage until the second it counts.

And if we had defenses per faction lore too...
Every time a mech, tank, vehicle, etc. went down, any nearby soldier, civilian, or even child would get it back on its feet regardless of what condition it was in (as long as it could function in some way) and put it back into the fight... over and over, until the battlefield could be described as a mechanical graveyard in which the dead keep rising back.

Huzzah for Liao! For those reasons, who wouldn't want to join?

Last time I checked Cw the Marik offensive against Davion was hitting some tough resistance and Liao are fielding some numbers and making some gains into Marik space.
