I just formatted my computer and decided to install the game through steam. I now have an issue where the game will just stop responding and refuse to actually launch until i restart my computer.

It has happened 3 times so far.

1) Still in game, had just died and was switching view to a friendly mech when the screen stopped updating, just a still picture. VOIP was still working and i heard my team talking but the game itself wasnt responding.

2) Coming out of a game almost to the mechlab where it says "Connecting" and the circle stopped and the game just sat there. I could alt tab out and everything else worked fine but the game was frozen.

3) Just finished a game and right after i clicked exit and it went to "Connecting" the circle stopped and the game froze.

I cannot just restart the game, it opens up the mwo window but doesnt do anything and then goes to not responding.

The only way to get MWO to start working again is to restart my computer.

I did not have any issues like this before i installed through steam, i've played for years with the normal client.

I checked Event Viewer and it said:

The program MWOClient.exe version 1.4.47.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.
Process ID: 1aec

Application Path: F:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MechWarrior Online\bin64\MWOClient.exe
Report Id: b1303375-a35e-11e5-8186-d43d7e9ca33f

Any insights would be most appreciated.

Please try running the client with Avast fully disabled to see if the same issues persist. Avast has led to some issues in the past, and we might be seeing a new set of issues as of late.

How about for those of us not running Avast? What troubleshooting solution is there for us?

Seems avast was causing the issues.

I have had similar issues as well, turning avast off till restart seems to help the situation but not fully fix.

I will try turning off the GeForce next time as well.

Did you check to see if the computer was plugged in?

NVidia 344.11 drivers may solve it. Please read my solutions in the links above.

I would like to address to the Devs and Community that attempts at troubleshooting this issue has resulted in no positive effect. Rolling back drivers fails to resolve the issue. This seems to be a common theme with those who installed Win10 and use Nvidia drivers, which leads me to believe there is some sort of compatibility issue... but before (using Win7x64 Ultimate) I used to get an error message stating either a DX11, D3D, or DXI Device removed error. This no longer appears, and is a common issue so far with MWO, War Thunder, Battlefield 4, Far Cry, among other graphically heavy games.

It's an issue directly tied to Windows OS and Nvidia drivers... contacting Nvidia is a waste as an individual, but a game development company would have greater sway in convincing a company like that to investigate because it will impact both companies as a whole due to a fairly decent sized gaming population to stop playing, therefore also... stop paying for content in such fun MMOs like MWO, War Thunder, and others. Please Devs, go slap someone at Nvidia for us MWO fans.

edit: the game froze more than a dozen times each... during two matches last night. MWO is officially on standby until I can buy a new non-Nvidia GPU... I'm going back to ATI chipset like when I was in Closed Beta and had no issues... supposedly MWO is supposed to operate better with Nvidia... (or at least you would think given the opening slash image of said stupid company).

Sounds like I should postpone updating to Win10 as long as possible.

I have this exact issue.

Thing's I've changed on my PC recently.

A ) happens after latest patch.
B ) I have AMD Crimson Beta Drivers.
C ) New video card installed (so all the MWO settings are maxed now).
D ) I am launching through Steam

Sidenote- Still using win7 x64

All right. I am trying these (I know that the solutions might sound weird):

1. Clean installation of Windows 10 Pro (just switched from 7) with the latest NVidia (not Windows Update) drivers (just video and PhysiX), fresh Creative Soundblaster drivers.
2. Defragmenting the whole disk drive (it was fragmented at 70%) with Defraggler.
3. Disabling the Windows Page File. I think 12GB of RAM should be enough.
4. Disabling my antivirus.
5. Wearing a top hat and a monocle and placing a warm male cat upon my lap.
6. Not keeping anything launched on the background after booting up.

I just need a lot of time for the defragmentation.
I shall report back to you when I test it all.

Windows 10 actually FIXED my issues. Although I have experienced the mentioned freeze twice, I have been able to play for hours, and wasn't an issue to me considering. Being that I been PC-Gaming for years, I can say, all games crash sometimes... be it fault of the game or the PC...
- Also note, tech support worked for many days trying to help me (when it was at it's worst), and they gave a lot of care and effort... they really do their best and they got my respect.

Still suffering this issue... and knowing a AMD GPU user is having similar issues is making me question whether buying a non-Nvidia GPU would resolve my issue...

I am not reinstalling Win10, reinstalling MWO, or reinstalling any software related to this issue because I've already gone through those measures... with no luck. Honestly I'm starting to believe this is a Windows OS issue in general. I've got members in my unit who have the same GPU and suffer no issue whatsoever.

So far, it works. However, Windows 10 is very unstable compared to Windows 7.
