Tried one with about 9 CERPPCs and some heat sinks with kiiiinda sorta not really maxed armor.

Alphad once on Tourmaline, didn't wake up anymore. Just blew out and died.

Oh, they are VERY doable still (Presuming you mean Dire Wolves)... Just not with a 9 CERPPC setup...

You've been here since 2012, so I'd assume you'd have know about how heat functions on the game. I'd also assume you would know about Ghost Heat, which PPCs have that extra ghost heat after 2 are fired with 0.5 seconds (I believe). Also, Clan DHS had a capacity nerf, but a cooling buff. So they cool you off faster, but it takes less to overheat yourself.

Considering you are also T2, I'm going to take your post as some kinda joke post. By T2 you should know about how hot CERPPCs are, and should know that shooing 9 of them is death to your machine.

sometimes you blow up after the first shoot, sometimes you can get up to 3.

Btw, why 9 when you could boat 11?

I think the 6 ERPPC DWF is actually usable, but I'd hate to manage the heat in that thing. You'd be completely screwed if a couple of lights came to harass you.

WELL.

Gave the 11 PPC build a go.

Made someone's Warhammer evaporate from fresh.

That aside, can confirm it's only good for one alpha now. No matter what map you're on, you're not waking up after taking the kill shot.

The Direstar was a specific 11 C-ERPPC build that The B33f did.

it was prior to the last rebalance that nerfed Clan heat sinks, but post Ghost heat I believe.

Even the build video admits that you are lucky to get a 3rd alpha before dying and sometimes the 1st will kill you unless you are specifically on a super cold map. It also admits that (like many of B33f's build on YouTube) it is more about sending a message to your opponents than being a good build. Still, a 165 pin point alpha (especially from behind) will kill pretty much anything in the game even if you die along with it.

If you aren't familiar with it, look up the couple Direstar videos that B33f did on YouTube, just for a good laugh.

It's not a B33ftm build per se,people have done it the day the dire was released. The build is only about lolz, totally useless but fun for the one shot.

Btw, it's not 165 pinpoint, it's 110 pinpoint and 27,5+27,5 splash if you're lucky, or just 27,5 splash if you're unlucky.

Saw the aforementioned pilot on the other side running his trademarked build yesterday while pugging (on frozen city no less!). He did manage to squeak out a kill with it. Probably blew himself up after. I think it was a fairly close one for a while. Had he been playing half serious we probably woulda lost.

On the spectrum of "meta comp pr0 leet" (ie. Metacrows) and "totally unviable borderline poor sportsmanship build" (ie. stock urbie), I'd say it leans toward the latter, but at least you will probably kill something haha.

The Direstar is the ultimate troll build. It's novelty is its awesomeness.

I was kind of wondering the viability of this myself since I still don't own a direwolf, but I can understand why you melt down after 1 alpha as opposed to 3 now.

Ah... Okay. Makes sense. Then, I refrain and say "Was never really "usable" to begin with".

Is that message "I'd rather throw myself into an oven and die than keep playing with the PUGs on my team"?

No, from my understanding he usually plays group queue. Just that message of "You are going to DIE, even if I go with you!!"

PGI takes all our fun toys away. First the 6 PPC stalker, then the Direstar. Builds that were never really viable, but killed enough whiney scrubs to eventually die in a river of tears. Shame.

Back in the day, the 6 PPC Stalker WAS viable. One shot, basically kill a mech by hitting their toe. Shut down, no internal damage from the heat.

I do miss my 4 PPC Stalker, which is actually still kinda viable, but the 6 PPC version needed to go.

Yeah, it was pretty dangerous before you knew what it was. But once people figured out what it was and what its limitations were, it was called out and eliminated without much trouble. My light mechs would eat those things for breakfast.

If your light mechs didn't get tapped in the shoulder by one...

There was a bug where heat could only go up to a certain number, something like 200. It worked properly, except when 11 CERPPCs produced 1207 heat and the mech only needed to cool off 200 heat.

It's fixed now and you get ALL of the 1207 heat, which would be something like 5 minutes shut down if you didn't die from CT damage.

I wish pgi would do a "no ghost heat weekend" or something where people could run crazy builds like these, just for fun. Maybe even have an unlimited "run what ya brung" queue. Probably not enough population for it though.
