I'm looking at building my first pc for MechWarrior. Wanted to get an idea if this would be sufficient for the recommended requirements? My budget is $600-$800.

Maybe get at least the STRIX GTX960 card (more punch), and maybe little bit more RAM?

Also, why do you want Mini-ITX (with B85 chipset)?

Well, I did something similar. As far as minimum specs go I'm really not an expert. I am however running an 3rd gen i7 with an EVGA 660ti. Even being a few years old it's enough to run MWO on max settings. I'd say pick a processor based on cost, but pick the graphics card based on performance. That 950 will run the game no problem. If you can I'd go with a slightly more powerful card. And it may not still be the case, but EVGA cards are clocked faster and tend to have better reliability than most other options.

But to answer your question, yes; that build would run MWO.

that should be good enough to play with max graphics, however I would recommend adding a Solid State drive to install Windows and programs, for faster load times.

A 120gb ($40) SSD would suffice, but I would recommend a 240gb ($65). an SSD provides significantly faster load times compared to a spinning rust Hard Disk Drive.

I think the 4440 isn't an OC chip so you won't need more than the stock HS and fan. 430W is a little thin for that rig the card requires a 350W PS so you have very little overhead for powering peripherals. Ditto a SSD, they are worth every penny for the speed boost they provide.

Running a i7 920 with 12GB ram and 660GTX and it's running MWO and Fallout 4 pretty smoothly.

It really depends if you intend to fiddle a bit with the settings or stick with a preset. I run mostly 1920x1080 with max textures, models and environment but disable AA, motion blurs, blooming, hdr... all the stuff that shines but hurts the performance.

Desktop CPUs don't evolve much nowadays (at least not how they used to) so invest on a good, solid CPU/mobo combo with a lot of ram and you'll be peachy for a good while. So a good flagship i7 or high end i5 with some durable mobo like a Gigabyte Ultra Durable should do the trick. You'll pay a bit more yes but you'll manage to keep them for 5years+ if you clean the fans from time to time. Feel free to substitute Gigabyte with your favorite brand: everybody's got one and we can start a whole topic on which brand is better without solving that one

As for the GPU, usually the GTX -60s are sufficient and not that expensive. You can buy one each 2-3 years and they'll offer you a good performance for the buck.

Definitely install the OS on an 250GB SSD and maybe your top 2-3 games too. HDDs are the last performance bottleneck after all. And don't cheapen on the model too: it's the backbone where your computer resides. Samsungs 850s EVOs are usually more expensive and not the fastest but they are a solid, durable, performing choice.

I live in Canada and our electronics are WAY overpriced. The kind of machine I'm talking would cost around 1200$ here.

Option B would be asking around if someone is getting rid of a decent DDR3 computer and build on that. My 920 cost me around 200$ fully loaded two years ago and I just had to upgrade over time some ram, an SSD and the GPU. Gotta love scavenging!

I never built something Mini, but i'd choose m-Atx instead of M-Itx, except if you need some of the onboard things like w-lan, sound, etc.

YO, I'd like to steal the thread. Kinda.

How about y'all who know PC building really well, throw out some suggested builds that are BUDGET, first and foremost, and will run MWO at highest settings with good FPS. Further, if you have the time, how about talking to the choices of various components (MoBo, RAM, GPU, etc), and why you picked the ones you did in particular.

Been looking at rigs lately myself since I play on setting up something actually worthy of being called a gaming rig for the first time in years.

It will be several months before I actually purchase (sometimes being a responsible adult sucks), but if I was going to right now this combo on Newegg is pretty nice. Just add your video card of choice and monitor/keyboard/mouse/HDD to pair with the SDD in the combo(all of which I already have).

While an I7 would be nicer, the I5 I still pretty nice, plus the board could be upgraded to a higher end 6th Gen I5 or I7 down the road and is already on DDR4. Heck even the integrated in hat would beat the HD 4000 I've been stuck running on my laptop so far.

$905 before $30 mail in rebates. This would be about the same price after buying the GPU with the previous combo and probably slightly faster, but has a lot less potential for upgrades later on.

All comparisons I've seen say the DDR3 to DDR4 jump makes minimal impact (usually the bottle necks are other places). That I7 would perform as well or a little better than the later gen I5, but since 4th/5th/6th gen I5/I7s are all on different sockets makes upgrades later much harder to do.
