Please don't forget to use your large lasers and autocannons. If you just sit at the back lobbing LRMs then half of your weapon system is left unused.

If the team is good enough he will never know he wasnt working as hard as he should have. Yesterday i spectated a Stalker do nothing with his mpl and only try and shoot his 2 lousy lrm at far targets. He never tried to support the people close to him and HE WAS on the front, just never with a line of sight of anything or moving with his friends to support them. It turned out the team worked hard enough for him to join the fight at the end and mop the floor with his mpl at the beaten and opened enemy in the purest sweep your lasers left to right and back.

Forget telling him anything, just say GJ and move on.

That almost like what happened last night when I spectated a KGC in our team with LRM45+2LPL who was just showering the enemies with the LRMs. From complete cover to boot......

I do want to believe that pilots like this are new and do not intentionally play like that.

I never liked just using LRMs, I always come with an energy weapon backup and I do my best to support my team.
My Stalker is set up with ER PPCs as back up for when my Missiles run out.

when i run mixed i like to soften targets with lerms before pushing. i usually dont have much ammo for the lerms anyway, usually just 10-15 salvos. carrying all those rockets into a brawl can be a liability and i like to empty the tubes first. a mixed build certainly calls for different tactics than a boat. i did have my lermarauder built as a moderate range skirmisher with medium lasers and an erppc up high, and i like to put that thing right on the front line within medium laser range of the action (and it was certainly heavier on the lerm ammo than the usual mixed build).

I'll sometimes do this, to be honest. Depends on the build.

For example, I always try to put at least an LRM10 on my Centurions and my Highlanders, just for nostalgia. It feels like a crime not to at least one missile launcher on those mechs, and ideally it should be LRMs. But if my CN9-AL has 2xLPL and 2xML + LRM10, it's really too hot to fire all weapons at the same time. So I fire LRMs when my team is just holding position, and I fire my lasers when it's time to get serious.

Same with my HGN-732B, for example. 3xLPL, 1xUAC5, 1xLRM10. The LRM10 is just there for show. I bring 1 ton of ammo. I scare people back to cover with a light drizzle. And when it's time to crack skulls, I run the main armament.

Now, people being timid and just trickling LRMs when the rest of the team is fighting, of course, that's a different story. But during the early part of the match, unless there's something going on, I'll happily just fling a few LRMs while enjoying a cup of coffee. Untill I've spent my 1 ton of ammo and it's time to get serious.

Oddly, when I do take LRM's on a non boat (read not my Mad Dog or LRM Awesome), then I never take more than 1 ton of ammo per launcer. That's due to me using them as I close the gap to my target, often through some spotter, then I swap to direct fire weapons. Everything has a time and place to be used, the pilot just needs to known when to use what.

Been thinking about this all day, all im reading in my post now is a guy blaming another guy for a game that he didnt even lose. especially in that match where i killed myself because i thought Frozen was cold enough to let the override on but then a light came around and i let another alpha out that wasnt planned.
