I've noticed that the popular map tends to go in trends, one day it's almost nothing but River City, the next it's constant Tourmaline. Tonight I've played maybe five games that weren't Viridian Bog. Please, please do something so I can't run into three games straight that choose the same map with a brief caustic interlude followed up by more games of bloody bog. I don't think I've even seen Crimson Strait show up in the map options once.

That's always been an issue. Even in the random map days, sometimes you're just unlucky.

It's just random, though. It can't really take you personally into account because then it would be a nightmare of taking 24 players' map history into account and that's just ridiculous... And is, from any one player's perspective, functionally random anyways.

I guess it would be hard to account for 24 player histories. Nearly impossible, in fact. I just wish something could be done.

I think the voting system needs to go away.... People already change to the least voted map in the final second to up their vote multiplier, so you end up with some pretty crazy number swaps in the end.

Stopped voting, unless I really dont like the map I vote.

But its annoying indeed, people padding their vote.

They should reduce the vote to just 2 maps. 2 cold maps, 2 medium hot maps, 2 hot maps etc etc.

What? No! I am almost to tier 1 in the minigame!

Seriously, all they need to do is make the vote blind and the last second swapping will stop.

Embrace the horror and stop voting. I think they did it as a way to appease us for taking away the freedom of mode selection. [I agree with them for doing it... makes matchmaking easier on the system, but there were/are some angry folks out there that hate that fact.]

+1 for such a reasonable reaction. That's so rare on these forums.

Yes! I'd be happy to see them make the map selection a blind vote. Don't show the percentages until the vote is done. Simple!

What the hell is this? Even the off-topic tangents on this thread are sensible! Who are you people?

And if they do that, the functionally random maps we are getting now will stop as well.

I hated the voting system when it first came out, then I kinda liked it, and now I'm vaguely disdainful of it. I'd rather go back to a machine randomly selecting the maps for us, but we still get to vote on the mode. At least then players can't whine to the tune of "Why the hell did you people select Mordor?!?"

It should be a single, locked in vote with no percentages shown.

As a side benefit, that would very quickly demonstrate the players rating of all the maps and PGI could start to rework the worst ones.

I save my 10x multiplier to click on all the maps back and forth and at the very last second un-vote so its always random to everyone.

I don't vote if I don't care which of the maps presented I drop on. This helps to steadily increase my multiplier so that I can vote for Terra Therma when it comes up or stop a chain of drops on the same map. Mostly though it's so I can see Terra Therma a couple times a night.

What are they gonna do? Make them all cold?

I totally agree they should only allow one vote, locked with no percentages shown. That way one isn't influenced by the tide, underdog, or exploiting the multiplier mechanic.

On the other hand, not all maps should be a "walk in the park" cold map catering to laser vomit. I like the spread of maps we have now (assuming the updating and new creation continues).

Make MWO great again, vote HPG!

I tend to vote HPG everytime it is available, and failing that, like to vote for Terra Therma as I actually like that map.
