Hey guys, I experimented a bit with LRM playstyle on Assault mechs but I constantly got picked off by literally everybody.

So I adjusted a bit and found myself a playstyle as a self-reliant assault missile boat which can defend itself when being pushed or flanked.

If you want to fire deadly missile packs but also want some action have a look at that build! It brings some very good flexibility to the battlefield and you are useful at any point of the game. It is also nice to give your enemies these WTF moments when they try to underrun your LRM range and then are faced with even more missiles.

Of course I did a little tutorial for you to share my insights:

For this tutorial I took a Stalker STK-3H with following loadout:
2x LRM15 + Artemis
2x SRM6 + Artemis
4x Medium Laser
Engine: STD 300

Full loadout: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ca8f5c71e4fc95e

What do you think?

In my opinion, if you devote significant tonnage to non-LRM weapons, you need to actively get into direct fire engagements. Otherwise you're wasting them. For hybrid LRM builds I prefer IS LPLs+LRMs or Clan MPLs/ERMLs+LRMs. The ranges are exactly where your LRMs are ideal: around 300-400 meters where your target doesn't have that much time to get back into cover. When you do direct fire, your Artemis is also active, so you also get faster lock ons and longer target decay, which again reduces the chances of your target avoiding your missiles. You can also use TAG, which is really awesome on the STKs since they have high energy mounts so you don't need to expose much of your mech to put a TAG on the target.

I like your build, but I think you could use it better. If your teammates are dying while playing sensibly before you take any damage, you should be getting into the fight more. Similar to how you and the king crab took turns to take fire near the end in order to preserve your firepower, you should be trying to do that with the rest of your team. This also means you can take advantage of Artemis and TAG by being in line of sight.

Agreed. I wanted to show off the short range firepower with this one. Maybe I should have used the following video for the tutorial. This one really shows the full potential of the build. Here we are in the middle of the fight with the whole team doing constant damage.

I like it, but I would remove artemis in favor of more DHS. Im a nut for good heat efficiency though.
