I use The Mining Collective to see how fast my mechs can kill the Cataphrax and the Centurion on the left. This gives me a good idea were there range, heat and brawling ability are at.

Then I got the Idea of testing ground speed runs. PGI could easily turn that into a challenge with achievements and leader boards.

What yall think?

A common mech performance measurement tool is to see how quickly you can kill all the mechs in Caustic. Handily nicely arranged in a circle, you can follow a pretty predictable route. The map is hot, so you're making tradeoffs with regards to heat and cooling. All in all, it's actually a really great way to evaluate builds.

I'd love to see an academy speed run setup.

The problem is that it needs to have some resemblance to actual combat. Otherwise people are going to strip all armour, for example. And jump jets will either be totally OP or completely pointless, depending on what the track looks like.

It's a nice idea, but I think a survival mode PVE is a much more fun and much better indication of skill and viable builds. Assuming you get to reload ammo every so often.

I would not dig too deep you might not like what you find
also putting a clock inside the Mech is not a good idea people might start tracking there cool down rate

Yes, I know people will strip all armor and such. That is part of the fun.

Who can build the fastest, highest dps mech for each map. Also maintain control of your mech, 1 bad shot can add a lot of seconds to your run

aha. We could have race mech builds with all armor stripped, boating super loadouts.
