Hello and thanks for even clicking the link i really do appreciate it,

I'm looking to up FPS on a triple 1080p monitor setup, and i know there are some amazingly technically minded and bargain savvy people out there.

At the moment i run on mostly medium settings and get...20-40MAX FPS. (Very Map dependent)
I have lowered settings in the past but it makes little difference... Particle effects seem to make the biggest hit.

Considerations:
  • I like the immersion of Eyefinity otherwise i would just use low settings, for what little difference they make.
  • I work for a living and the FuryX's/ 980Tis are probably out of my price bracket atm Posted Image
  • I'm not game enough to overclock. (Don't have a fire extinguisher)

I also run MWO of a Samsung 840 EVO weather or not this makes a difference... not to sure.

1. Am I CPU bound?
------If so recommendations?

2. What GPU SUB $AUD500 would be a suitable upgrade?
--- Or would i be better off X-fire a second 280X? (keeping in mind i only have a 660W PSU

Other Recommendations?

Thanks for your time,

Drop the particles and shadows.

Though, a triple screen setup has a fisheye effect in MWO, and even if there's a special mode for triple screen in other games, you'll face issues with angle correction and the like.

Your issue is going to be CPU. The game depends on the CPU far far more than GPU.
You'll want an overclocked I5/7.

The game doesn't really do multi gpu well. But you may get a deal on a 980/390/290

Im playing at 2560x1080 (yeah i know its nowhere close, but still pretty high res) on ultra on gf970 with 50-60 fps. Before i was using crossfirex double amd 7870 and on medium + 1920x1080 and had barely 30 fps, droping often below 20. So i would say game isnt radeon friendly.

I have no idea where you bottleneck would be, but I'm dubious of that card, by it's self, running 5760 x 1080 (or 3240 x 1920.)

I don't think you have the PSU to run a second 280X, so that has to figure into your 500 buks; If I'm estimating properly, a second 280X means at lest 770W, were as two 380s would be … a second Kraken X61 + G10 makes 792W, where two 380s plus two X61+G10 means 696. How badly do you want to test two 370s (514W, wut with the second X61+G10)?

Welp: The free option is to turn down all the things
r_stereodevice = 0
r_TexMaxAnisotropy = 0
r_TexMinAnisotropy = 0
r_TextureLodDistanceRatio = 20
r_Texture_Anisotropic_Level = 0
r_Beams = 2
e_GsmCache = 1
q_ShaderWater = 0
r_FogShadows = 0
r_fogShadowsWater = 0
r_GeomInstancing = 1
r_silhouettePOM = 0
r_UsePOM = 0
r_radialBlur = 0
e_ParticlesMotionBlur = 0

sys_budget_videomem = 3072
sys_MaxFPS = 42
with an ALL LOW setting.

There's other stuff, but would involve moar tests after you post results from these.

Good luck …

Not true, I'm using a i7 2600k @ 4.5ghz and a 390X and I get 60-80 FPS at 1440p. AMD GPU's work just fine.

Honestly a 390X runs the game perfectly for me. but I'm on a single 1440p Monitor.

yes, 4670k or 4690k (refresh) which ever is least expensive, allowing to OC to 4.0/4.2. Looks like the 4690k will be the least expensive in AU.
