Hi fellow Mech Warriors

I recently came back to MWO and am excited to see how much the game has changed since late 2013...

I now own a few clan mechs. But something about their targeting computers seems odd.

If I look at the boosts they are supposed to give you, the boost to advaced zoom seems to be wrong.

A targeting computer mk 1 is supposed to give you a 19.8% boost on your advaced zoom range.

Since the base magnification value of advaced zoom is 4.4 (without any targeting comp) this boost should give you 4.4*1.198=5.27
But ingame, it only boots to 4.6

A targeting computer mk 5 has a boost of 52.8% So it should increase you zoom level to 6.72
But ingame it only increases the zoom to 4.93

----------

Is there some kind of hidden modifier or another base value wich gets the increase? This zoom advantage would be a nice trade for the space and mass a big targeting computer needs. And might also reduce the griefing about clan mechs now being inferior to quirked up IS desings. Yeah they still dont have the range of some IS ERLL builds, but with a x6 or even x7 zoom they could aim much better on big distances. Trading range for more precise shots. But right now? Taregeting computers seem like a big waste (even with all the other boni they give, wich could also work with an odd mechanic, who knows?)

Right now it looks like: 4.4 + 0.(percentage value of the targeting computers boost) (4.4 + 0.198 for the Mk I).

Btw: I am new to the Forum, so if I posted this in the wrong section, could a mod please move this topic to its proper section?

4.4 (440% magnification) + 0.198(rounded up) = 4.6

4.4 + 0.528(rounded up) = 4.93

Looks fine to me.

yes I know (and even gave an example above), but why does it say 19.8 PERCENT increase instead of + x0.198?
Its misleading and thats why I started this topic.

IMHO also think that this is laughable increase compared to what you pay for it in tons and space...
It should be percentage increases like in my little calculation above.

Of course it is, but all the other percentage values in the game are increases in percent depending on the base value (quirks, modules etc...).
Why should it be different in this case? That does not make any sense...

It is based on the base value, the base value is 100% zoom. You gain an additional 19.8% zoom, added to the 440% MAX zoom gives you 459.8% max zoom instead, or approx 460% zoom.
