What builds are good right now for a direwolf? I like the 2xgauss x3 e mlx x2largeL that is in for default right now. I heard autocannons are better than gauss right now. I don't really know much about current meta/builds. I tried a PPC SRM timberwolf and I hate it :(.

I got wrecked by a 4x AC/10 dire, walked into its line of fire, and BOOM blasted into bits.

I think 4 uac10 is pretty popular, or 10 uac2 for dakka-fun (may be not 10, but you know, as much as you can fit).

@Jide: It doesn't matter just swap around pods from the variants until you get four ballistic. Direwolf only has negative energy quirks so ballistics are not effected.

4 uac10s is still a fave.

6 uac5s is also good.

2 LPLs, 4 UAC5s

OR

12 PPCs FTW!

Greeting All,
I am running a Dire with 5 UAC and about 1000+ rnds of ammo, (6 didn't give me enough ammo), and have done 8 kills and 1450 dam with it. I love when enemies cluster up and I have taken down up to 4 at one time one right after the other and have gone head to head with fresh Dires and King Crabs and taken them down. With 6 LB5Xs I have nailed 2 locusts that thought they had me, but didn't know that I *do* know how to lead my shots! That was a nasty surprise!
I also have one with 6 UAC2s that I have raised hell with.

And don't forget to get the mods for your weaps....the AC/UAC 5s and 2s make a good long range sniper setup too!

Either way Have Fun! Posted Image

Here's the dakka build that worked the best for me on my Dires.

UAC10s & MLas

3 UAC10s will put out some murderous damage, and the 4 ER Med Lasers will give you some lattitude in tracking small, fast movers.

I tried 4 UAC10s and it just wasn't sustainable in heat or in ammo consumption.

12 PPC is not possible, there is only tonnage for 11, but that is with almost no armor and is hot enough that a single alpha strike will shut you down for 30 seconds, the second alpha will kill you, however that is likely 2 kills provided you are a good shot

1 kill if you don't miss or hit the arm or, what can happen as PPC projectile are slow. A chance for the second kill can happen if by some miracle the enemies will fail to wreck an underarmored shutdown direwolf within 30 seconds...

Ironicaly in MWO you are quite a bit limited concerning Clan Battlemech builds.
( OMNI mechs with dedicated weapon hardpoints wtf )
Additionally the quirk system. So....You could only do ballistics effectively or Lurms.
And what you want in a Dire is some stoppingpower...so its ballistics.

Edit: that is if you opt out from frontload dmg aka Gauss and PPC

The lb-2x is the only ac2 with a cooldown module, so if you really felt like it, you could have a super fast rof build.

A revelation, I did not know about that. I just checked, you are right, only the LBX.
