ive been playin this game for a year and half now and now for the past month every game I play I just get huge lag spikes randomly I usually run at around 50-70 ping but this past month it has been jumpin to the 1000-2000 ping range then goes right back down and does so the entire match and only when im in a match if I sit and watch the server pings in the mech bay there perfect as soon as I get into a match instant lag. ive been working with support every day doing every fix they tell me to and it doesn't work. they need to get up and do something about it cause it not just me bunch of people in my unit are getting the same thing pgi really needs to do something. same computer same internet so I know its not me. enough of my rant tho glad I got that off my chest.

This has happened to me before. I did some looking into it and found that it actually was my internet(which normally is okay). You can run a basic self check on your connection by going into a command prompt, then typing in "tracert www.google.com" without the quotes. If you can do around 5 tests(they don't take more than minute typically) you should have an idea if there's a connection problem between you and the internet. Most of the packets should send at a ping that's less than your normal in-game ping. If you see high pings more than once or twice it could point to a connection problem. An easier to view test(though can take longer) is to go to speedtest.net and particularly pingtest.net which do a similar battery of tests on your connection. Sadly if you determine you have a connection problem, other than restarting the router(only fixes issues sometimes or temporarily), you'll have to bring the issues to your isp, which is when the real fight begins. Good luck.

What version of windows are you running? If Windows 10 are you aware that by default, your system is setup to act as a torrent to provide window updates to other computers, not just your personal network but elsewhere?
Removed comment, not worth it. Just remember, your system does not have a direct link to the server as if it was next to you. It goes through several layers before it even hits their server farm.
Are you located in the States or elsewhere? Do you have a specific server selected or all servers?
Control Panel, Power Options, set to High Performance (even more important if a laptop).
Lets start with hardware. Router/modem/gateway. When was the last time those items had been blown out of dust build up?
Wireless or Ethernet? Is it connected directly to the router/modem/gateway or wireless? Have you powered down the equipment? Is the modem connected via cable/dsl or wireless to your ISP? Is your ISP a major ISP or a mom/pop that has purchased access to a major provider?
Generate and post your dxdiag.

Well, a couple things. Wireless conections to your modem can be okay, and sometimes can be unreliable. Consider wiring directly to the modem and see if that improves things. Try also those connection tests I previously recommended. Just having an idea of where the problem is can be of great benefit.

that's just it me and the support olga cant find the problem I have tried wiring in and I still get the same behavior. I honestly don't know what to do ive done everything I can and everything the support has listed my I ran 2 tracer tests and both don't seem to have any problems in my hops all around 30-70ms.im gonna wait for the patch tomorrow and see if it goes away I pray it does ive sunk a lot of money. if patch doesn't fix it ima call my isp but their never helpful. and I cant for the life of me figure out how to add attachments to these replys. if you can tell me how I can post my tracers and dxdiag

Hi Zealousy, I see similar behavior and a 4% packet loss when I am logged into Draft Kings fantasy football and am watching the live stream of text data. In MWO, it looks like normal for about 5 seconds, the other mechs start to run in place, and then your mech is facing a seamingly random direction and the other mechs have leaped forward. This sequence repeats ad-infinitum until I shutdown Firefox.
If you have any kind of streaming service going on (e.g. Netflix, YouTube, twitch broadcasting, etc.), shut them down before playing MWO and see if the problem goes away.
You can try releasing and renewing your IP address and flushing the DNS resolver cache:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
You can try using namebench to find a faster DNS server:
https://code.google.com/p/namebench/

The connectivity of MW:O is horrible.
I have yet to see a match not decided by bad hitreg. There is no fair competition in MW:O.
Fast light 'mechs with pings spiking from 30-450 induce bad hitreg for every user in their netcode section for many seconds. This can be caused by accident or intentionally. Not everytime but often enough and one bad apple spoils the whole bunch or match.
Normally servers drop those users due to bad performance to keep it up for the remaining to play. MW:O doesn't. F2 "effing"P.
And additionally MW:Os playerbase is so small they cant even afford to hardlock the players on their respective servers without messing up the queues.
So matches consist of players with latencies ranging from 15ms to 350ms. That is not going to work EVER. Forget lag compensation like HSR, thats out of the window long before, see "ping spikes".
PGI doesn't afford capable servers just keeps milking some old Mechwarriors with no alternative like me.
PS:Private lobbies are even worse.

Copy and paste. May need to break it up into parts.
The other is, while doing pings/tracerts, do it while in combat. And if your ISP is small that is subletting their connectivity through a larger ISP, it is possible there is some throttling going on.
Brand and model of modem and router.
Also, check the Broadband forums for your ISP.
http://www.dslreports.com/forums/all
http://sourceforge.n...penvisualtrace/
or
https://www.pingplotter.com/
Again, you want to run them while playing since something is likely kicking in when the UDP packets increase.

Just to add, try using VPN. If the issue lies within your network/ISP, VPN may bypass the whatever is being triggered. I am not saying using it permanently, more so for troubleshooting purposes.
