ANY new MAP is WELCOMED! More content is great for this game!

Agreed. New maps help in several ways!

They add to the need for diverse builds to handle different situations.

They add variety to battles

Each new map means you have to play particularly hated maps less often.

New maps are probably my favourite type of addition to the game.

Name change... Anyone know if this can be used to switch to pilot names that have already been used? I.e. If I've got an account that I signed up for in open beta, can I switch it to another pilot name, and then pick that name up on this account, which ive used for all of my actual play?

Is this map a new CW map? Or regular games? It looks really great.

Wait, are you saying that people DON'T like it whenever I use my vote multiplier to force them into Terra Therma with my dual AC/10 Jager? My entire life is a lie. Never mind I think they love it. **** em. I like to watch those laser boats burn.

From those 3 videos, looks like a Brawler's nightmare.

What is weapon damage feedback?

Polar Highlands = Caustic Valley + snow - central "caldera" (focal point).
Those are all very good things. MWO needs more hilly 'terrain warfare' maps like this; Enough cities!
Looking forward to PH.

I'm 99% sure that "weapon damage feedback" is neither the fix about beam length, nor any silly floating numbers. Beam length isn't information being fed back to the player, so it must be something else. If this game implements floating Warcraft-style numbers, half the playerbase will disappear overnight.

It's probably something new, but subtle. Probably something on the HUD, either near the crosshair, on the target armour display thing in the top right corner, or some kind of audio feedback...?
Now I think about it, it's probably just a small improvement on the red crosshair flash that occurs when you damage an enemy; Maye they just added a different colour for when you damage a teammate...?

I don't understand why they would call a laser beam fix "feedback", nor why they would annouce a small HUD fix. I will laugh my a** off if it's just a short beep a la Quake 3.

Also, I'm 99999% sure that it's January.

PS: PGI, wanna add something cool and really easy to make?
Make another kill siren using an echoey 'loudspeaker' version of the computer voice saying "Target Destroyed".

New map is looking good. Lets just hope there is a low count of rocks to get stuck on. The community really hates those rocks.

So Alpine Peaks will no longer be a boring coverless wasteland? Color me excited.

Edit: you guys know the difference between cover, tripping hazards and choke-points, right?
...right?

Again, the laser graphic change.

They said they'd be putting that in this patch. The beams get narrower as their damage decreases.

Yes it will. Alpine is staying. This is wholly new, though using the Alpine textures.

Alpine is having it's spawns rejiggered.

Yup. If a rock can stop your movement, even if (especially if) you're moving slowly, then that rock had better be very large and obvious.

Why is this addressed to new players?

Oh, right, because I've been around since beta an don't matter.

Oh, for gods sake.

Maybe it's addressed to new players, because they don't know when the game patches? When obviously you do?

Wow. People really need to stop taking absolutely every little tiny thing like it's a personal attack against them.

Everyone who uses the Steam client finds out the same way, regardless of their time in-game.

I don't take the ad as a personal attack, but I do think that PGI is way off base with what it is trying to accomplish and who it appeals to.

Ignoring some of the usual entitlement lurking around...

Map looks like rejiggered Boreal without a saddle and without the crappy MOBA style setup. Works for me. The less I have to see Alpine (I highly doubt to this day that adjusting the spawns will stop it from being a steaming pile in every mode but Conquest), the better.

On the other end, it will be interesting to see how the bits of high cover and gullies will actually work regarding cover; it reminds me of one of Hawken's maps that was nothing but a rocketeers delight (you arced your shots high like you can in MWO, and wham, pretty much everywhere but the central pod area provided 0 cover). I doubt it'll have that level of problems, but play and see I suppose. A large cold map that I actually enjoy would be a nice change, vs tiny and cramped, or just poorly set up.

I'm really hoping the "space gopher holes" are less present as well. When 100 tons of mechanized war machine can't crush down a toe sized rock or properly clear something their feet can easily over, there's problems above and beyond piloting skill.

It may add a bit of extra piloting finesse (though in practice, more pointless frustration than anything strategic), but a lot of those damn things should just be made destructible anyhow. Or into stompable space gophers capable of death via flamers and machine guns. There you go. How to make them relevant. Posted Image

Seems every time I buy a new Mech package, I get a crap one !
And if I refuse to buy a package, exactly this one will be great !

Just have a look at this quirks of the Warhammer !

Acceleration rate +60%
Additional strukture +20 (CT)

Nice, but I never will buy a package in advance before I have all the information about hardpoints, quirks and so on.
