Oh, so I've been doing this wrong the whole time. I'm only supposed to shoot enemy hardpoints? Well, I guess then I won't shoot that huge radar thingy that will pop out behind the terrain long before the Riflemans weapons will...
On a more serious note, this doesn't matter. Take a look at your comparison picture. I think we can agree you can only fire when your cockpit is looking over the ridgeline, so the orange line you drew will indicate, what the enemy will see of your mech. Look's about the same for me. It doesn't really matter if I shoot that huge radar array on the Rifleman or the torso of the Jägermech.

It has smaller silhouette above the cockpit compared to the Jäger.

Not even close to true. You want your hardpoints above the cockpit because the terrain hitboxes often don't conform to your cockpit's LOS. I can't count the number of times that I've had cockpit level (and sometimes higher) weapons hit hills that I could see over.
Besides, the Rifleman and Jaegermech both have significant amounts of torso above the cockpit. They're roughly equal in that regard, so the ability to ensure that your high-mounted weapons can fire at your LOS is the main advantage. Rifleman does not have that; Jaegermech does.

I'd bet Rifleman will outperform Whammy, just because of way superior hitboxes and hardpoint placement.
High mounted weapons for one
Hands almost completely covering torso, extremely XL friendly or simply very durable if STD, post mastery you can downgrade engine retaining the speed and go up to ~380 armor.
While getting to wield 2 AC20 and 4 Medium lasers
Or you can go a glass cannon route and have the same load-out as the King Crab 000B(C), minus the armor of course
Depending on the Quirks, this might be a meta choice for IS

I'm hoping to fit at least three of the classics in my CW deck. RFL, WHM, ARC..... Hopefully soon we'll get some of the other, lighter classics so my deck will be completely made up of classics.

Only time will tell on RFL vs WHM, I can make my Warhammers do bad things to the Red Team, usually pushing 4 or 5 KMDD a match before going down... Still I'm looking forward to getting out the Riflemen...
And CD I'm right with you, I want my Phoenix Hawk, Stinger and Wasp!

Remember it's only 60 tons, and boomjagers already are straining for weight there. But it's doable.

I will now call Rifleman the Bane of UAV's.
I mean... it didn't even move the torso!
