Excuse me and sorry if this was brought up before. I did a forum search and couldn't find the answer. What I was hoping to find out is if you crit a target and trigger an ammo explosion, does it count towards your final damage score?
I ask because of a match earlier where I was piloting an Archer 5W that I have equipped out with 8 x SRM 4's. I fire them in groups of 4. I was surprised that I had top damage considering that I only shot at 3 enemy mechs.
The First mech, a Timber Wolf, I fired at 5 times; missed twice but hit the other 3 for 96 damage on that target before other teammates helped blow it up.
The Second mech was a LRM Archer that I able to sneak up on from behind. I fired 6 times, hitting each time, and then over heated and shut down. Oddly, about 2 seconds after being shut down, the other archer blew up and I was given credit for the kill in the chat window. I thought it had to have been an ammo explosion that did it or it was an odd delay of lag in the game. Either way, I should have done about 192 damage to that enemy.
The third target was a Dire Wolf that I shot 6 times and hit each time and then the match was over before either of us died (my team capped the 1 min Domination timer). So, I should have done about 192 damage to him as well.
When I got to the score screen, I was a bit shocked to see that my damage read out at 892. 500 I can account for but can't place the nearly 400 other damage I had in that game. The only logical explanation is that when the enemy Archer blew up, the ammo explosion added to my score. I wasn't aware of this if that's the case but I can't recall ever hearing how an ammo explosion is calculated in the game. I know you can over heat and do damage to yourself that doesn't count for the enemy but since an ammo exploding is a reaction to you shooting it, I guess it would count I suppose.
Does anyone know for "sure" if this is the case and not just guessing like I am?

I think it does.
I had a similar experience where I only killed 2 people from ammo explosions before dying and still had a huge damage score at the end of the match.

I guess thats why leg shots on IS mechs carrying ammo weps are a good thing, damage padding FTW.

Unless they changed it, ammo explosion dmg that you crit is credited to your score.

Yeah, all damage you do, be it crit, explosion or component (blow a ST, get credit for remaining health of arm) is included in your total.

I think so but I honestly can't remember the last time I saw an ammo explosion...

Ammo explosion graphics are much reduced from the old days, where it'd look like a chain of explosions going off.
That and the 10% explosion chance for a critted ammo section.
