tried to log in today and I just keep getting this message "there is an update available please update thru steam. and when I do it does nothing . any ideas anyone else having this problem

Somehow it doesn't auto update itself - you just have to manually ask the game to check for updates.
Don't worry, I had the same problem but I just d/l the 600mb patch so it works.

I just switched the update settings to high priority, and then it updated.
