I'm looking to try some ERPPC/AC10 combos.

Considering the boost I did when I made a similar change to my Marauder, I'm probably gonna take my WHM-6R, rip out the PPCs and replace them with LPLs. And ditch the machine guns and small lasers, of course. Not sure what other changes to make just yet, saving that sort of thinking for when I can mess around with it in the Mechlab.

I prefer to use no more than 4 weapon groups, and I never liked small lasers.

So I'll take the 6R, remove the small lasers and use the extra ton for an additional heatsink. Biggest reason I like the Warhammer is the PPCs.

I can already see it happening, people mutilating the Warhammer in favor of DPS.

Sad, is it not? Everyone and their dogs ripping out PPCs for LPLs or (ER)Large Lasers is such a clear sign that PPCs are "underperforming" in some way.

Indeed. Even with quirks PPCs run too hot and hit registration is a problem. Large Pulse or Large Lasers are clearly superior to PPCs.

I mutilated my BW... 2ML in arms, 2LBX10s 4.5 tons ammo and 2mgs 1 ton ammo, srm6 with 1 ton ammo. Only one game with it so far but was fun. 972 dmg, 4solo kills, 5 kmdd (if only i had that mech over the weekend) 2 solo against direwales. Quite surprising compared to my first game with almost stock build...

Dumb question: but are the PPC quirks also benefitting ERPPCs?

Because that was never clear to me and my search fu is failing. Stock builds all sporting ERs

PPC Quirks benefit the PPC "family", so both PPCs and ER PPCs

I've been considering something like this for the BW. It runs hot, but chain fire the PPCs to help heat and negate the hit registration issue, then group fire AC/5s to cool down. Rinse, repeat.

MPLs to deter the Lights close-up. AMS 'cause so much LRM-spam lately.

Could also swap out MPL for MLs in the 6R for even more close range laser vomit (still running rather hot, though).

Oh no! That's the wrong way to look at it. The PPC has the best slowest speed. And it's the best at heat. And its weighs seven tons so that means it has to be the best!

But yeah. When step one of any rebuild is to dump the PPCs you know you've got a problem with PPCs. I remember in the books the PPC was king of the battlefield. MWO has turned it into a large laser and 2 heat sinks.

Running my Black Widow with 2xGauss, 3xML. using an XL 280 which has been surprisingly durable. Have ran 10 matches in it. 13 kills, 6 deaths and an average of 405 damage. Have had 3 games where I was sub 100 due to Nascar teams so that certainly hurts the average. I suck with PPCs and Gauss feels much better now.

Will post all my builds when I figure them out.
