Please no. I'd rather PGI work on something relevant than more useless cockpit items, say balance.

The teams that work on balance, and the team that designs cockpit items are different teams all together, and different from the mech creating teams, the cockpit design teams, and game coding teams, and....
So, they could have a billion cockpit items released, and it wouldn't affect the speed at which balance changes would be created. It also wouldn't affect the speed of map production, etc.
However, as entertaining as this concept is, I'd have to say no personally. To have a pet in proper scale would obscure a lot of the cockpit. Plus, it's a little irresponsible of the pet owner to bring their furry friend into the line of combat...

I love how you people immediately jumped at me thinking I only meant "graphics designers should go do some balance" when I was simply giving an example of where they should put efforts first than making cockpit pets. Those graphics designers could very easily make some better, more authentic looking buildings for one, as they all look the same blocky prefab with gray protrusions peppered around.
Come on.
Come on.

Different design people do the buildings as those that do the Cockpit items, last I knew.
We jumped on you because we've heard all too often "they should stop doing X and do Y instead", with no concept of departments and specialties. I once had one person when that was pointed out say that "PGI should do a temp layoff of all the X people and hire more Y people till the problem is solved, then rehire the X people back afterwards in a few months". Some people have no concept of the real world. Not your case I suspect, just pointing an example some of us have had to deal with, so you can understand why we made our response.

MOST HILARIOUS STRAWMAN ARGUMENT 2016
Congratulations!
How so? It's true what he said. (Unless you mean the person whom he quoted, and not Eden himself.)
The people who design things are not the people who adjust coding and stuff for balance.
