This will have ZERO effect on its usage. None. It still is funked up thanks to the charge up. I wont be putting it on my mechs any time soon.
PGI could put the charge up at 5.5 and remove the charge up and all would be fine. But anything above 4.5 cool down AND that friggin' assinine charge up is too much. Take the AC10 for the majority of the time. Just how often do you get 700+ meter shots any ways other than on Alpine or Polar Tundra???

I've been thinking, throughout all 5 of the exhibition matches last night, not one Gauss rifle was used...

it will definitely make a difference and gauss is far from useless. what other weapon does 15 damage for 1 heat? gauss allows assault mechs to use their tonnage to get more firepower that doesnt generate extra heat
That's what ballistic weapons are for in the first place. Spend weight to generate low-heat damage.

Used it fine during the nerf
Using it fine tonight
With but 2 weapons, out-damaging the majority of these Tier 1 Scrubs who can't even manage 200 damage half the time.

I did find something out tonight though: If you overheat while charging a Gauss, it doesn't shoot.
Shoot Gauss, then heat.
Shoot Gauss, then heat.

Tell me about it. Gettin' so bad, I'm building slightly upgraded stock mech variants just to keep things interesting. Today's theme was a "Superstock" Hellbringer Prime (because I could hide amongst the Warhammers like one of their own - they will never tell the difference!). The new Gauss cooldown just made using gauss rifles easier than it has been for the last month or so, but it wasn't like it was ever a bad weapon. Especially not when paired.

5 dps gauss vs bulldozer-Laservomit..
Its still a decent weapon, but lasers & quirks need to be reevaluated bigtime.

Since the gauss was added to the game I've loved it.
Through all the nerfs and corrections, I've done my best to do well with it.
The .75 second nerf was beyond reason.
The .5 second rollback, was much necessary.
It's not as horribad to brawl with gauss now, BUT, the nerf rollback did NOT improve my headshot potential unfortunately.
Only was able to get two to register tonight.
