patched and changed my nametag
then i start game get greeted with tutorial
i queue up and land a match confidently try to do my alpha dmg as usual
i press nothing happens then i realize my key settings video adjustments all have been changed
come on devs just be thorough with your work.
if our names had the data for all the old settings you could have easily associated the new name with the old setting pff

That was fairly boldy written in the patch notes that all your settings would get redone. They even gave instructions on how to avoid it.

yes it was listed in the notes etc, but the point is, how hard would it have been to make the new name profile copy your existing profile when it creates.......
pretty lazy of the coders.
would have been what, maybe another 100 lines of code ???? basic file management code at that ??

because the game writes a new profile for every name logged on MWO at that computer. If they did not everyone that used that computer would get the same setups and someone would likely hop on here and complain about THAT.

Your old name is not the default settings, nor is your email address part of the saved games folder, it is the name of the toon being logged in. Changing names is with PGI database. The client does what it is supposed to do, you log in, new name, new folder. It would be the same if your name offended someone and PGI changed it, you log in, new folder created.
Not only is it in the patch notes that have been up since yesterday, on the page you go to change your name has these notes. How can you actually miss that??!?!?
The Coordinator authorizes you the pleasure of committing seppuku in his name.

You may only change your pilot name ONCE for free. Any subsequent name changes will cost a non-refundable 4,500 MC. Understand that your pilot name must adhere to our Code of Conduct and Terms of Useand any violations will result in an automatic name change by Customer Support.
Please note that changing your Pilot Name will create a new profile in your \Saved Games\MechWarrior Online\Profiles directory. As a result, changing your Pilot Name will not carry over your existing key maps, in-game settings, or your weapon groups!

Well as of now its not in the game but on the website. This being one of the issues with allowing a browser to move files.
