I would like to see 8 vs 8 matches brought back. I feel that 12 vs 12 has ruined the game. 12 vs 12 makes all the things that are bad about a PUG that much worse. It is very hard for one man to make a difference, you are basically a slave to the lemming train mob. At least in 8v8 one person could carry a bad team or at least make a difference. The game has turned into: 12 mechs group up into a blob, run to the exact same spot on every map, and either camp or chase the enemy in circles.
Also, light mechs are not nearly as useful or as fun as they used to be. They have no real purpose now except minor scouting and harassment. In the old days a skilled light mech could take on any other class of mech on the field if he found them isolated from their team, but that never happens anymore because there are so many mechs in the battle. It is made worse by the abundance of clan mechs that can converge on a light mech very rapidly and alpha it to death in one volley. When is the last time you saw a locust or commando compete with other mechs?
For me, its just not fun anymore. I left the game for a while hoping it might get better later, but now that Ive come back, I think its gotten even worse. I personally would like to see a return to 8vs8 matches, and a switch of focus from developing new mech chassis to sell us, to some game-play improvements and new game modes. With 12 vs 12, assault and conquest just turn into death matches the same as skirmish.
I hope I dont come across as a whiner, I just used to love this game so much and feel like that if I am not going to play because I dont find it fun anymore, I should atleast leave some feedback about why.

This topic is old and was mentioned so often that i am not able to count. The "universal" answer to the recommendation to implement more game modes is always that there are not enough players to fill the game queues. Its frustrating to see how mutch potential lies in this game and no one is using it. Currently is only playable gamemode is quickplay in a single player queue. Everything else is a lot of pain. It´s sad that you are punished to play as a 2 to 4 player group and drop against a 12 player premade. The good thing is that you are garanteed to lose very fast, and hopefully the next match is somewhat better.
The implemented gamemodes make no sense. For exaple: Assault. Your team rushes to the (unguarded) enemy base and capture it in 4 minutes gametime. The reward is minimal. If you kill the entire enemy team the reward is mutch higher.
Everything that counts in this game is damage. Therefore all what counts is to build the Mech that makes as mutch damage as possible, as quickly as possible. This is the current status of MWO and i don´t see any progress comming in the next years.
