if I was calling for a fully underwater map, sure. I'm not, but it's funny how many comments seem to assume I am.
I'm certainly not. Just urging caution about how much has 100% "No Missiles Can Be Used Here" area. Like I said, some is fine, but you'd have to be veeeeery careful about that.

I'm pretty sure ballistics are unaffected by water, though (in terms of current game mechanics).

With that said, I've always wanted to see a thunderstorm at night version of Canyons, with all the lower areas flooded, thunder and lightening, torrential rain, etc

It'd be epic :)

actually, I think ballistics explode on water too, but probably need to double check to be sure.

Also right now we have areas that LRms are essentially ineffective due to overhead cover, etc.

Essentially != literally unusable. I use LRM's in the tunnel in Crimson Straights all the time on my Clan mechs, too.

But the key is, its not "LRM's are useless" its ALL missiles. Total 100% protection from missiles (and maybe ballistics too).

Because it's not just disadvantaging the whole hardpoints class but actually rendering them 100% unusable, a tremendous amount of caution must be excersized.

I thought ballistics and lasers had a damage reduction. Is that just lasers (and, presumably, PPCs)?

Sure, but they're relatively rare, which is Wintersdark's point. Having 100% cover here and there is okay. Having 100% cover over 80% of a flooded map would be bad.

I see your silly little french bay and raise you The Bay of Fundy between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, the site of the most extreme tides in the entire world.

Reminds me of one of the campaigns in MW2 Mercs, Gravenhague, where there were all the deserts that had once been seas.

Just get a topo map of Glamis and make a map out of it. Should be easy Posted Image

For some reason the Imperial Dunes reminds me of the motorcycle race from Fear and Loathing... Mint 400 is south of Vegas, though. Very different looking desert down there.
