I've been around since this game was in very closed beta, I've weathered Forest Colony 1.0 being our only map for months. I've weathered new mechs and new maps that worked or didn't.
I remember when Caustic Valley came out and I was happy we got a much bigger map, then realized that the centralized natural element was like a black hole that enveloped all movements around the perimeter. I've tried to break folks of this and succeeded when the team agrees, and we've even won sometimes. I like reactive and aggressive battles.
Polar Highlands is a step in the right direction. Battle lines tend to be drawn out as folks push the flanks of their enemy. Deathballing in one sector can now lead to defeat. Scouts to even find the enemy are important. Long distance and support weapons take a front seat compared to very specialized builds.
We need more of this. I come from a background of playing the Arma series where engaging the enemy isn't a guarantee within even the first 15 minutes. Positioning, information and engaging aggressively at key times are crucial for success.
So those that don't like Polar Highlands? I think they want Tribes, TF2 or MOBAs..... me, I want full field warfare.
Polar Highlands Still Too Small

Polar is my favorite map by far. The conquest points could be a little closer though.

By far my favorite map, and I really hate the bright snow maps (they give me a headache).

love night time on this map and yeah... lets get real big battlefield sized maps already... put the game timer to half an hour or add gamemode with longer timer. i wish they would release some of the cw maps into solo play minus the gates maybe but emerald taiga and vitric forge would be awesome in puglandia

Love this map too....Size is fine... It can be small I guess if you make a bee-line and don't use the trenches...but this map is great. Would love to see more natural terrain cover type maps other than trees and cliffs only... Great addition this polar map is

I will also state that this map is greatly appreciated by me. I find it to be quite nice to actually not know where the engagement will take place and have a different match each time because of that. Nice to be heading for a building area, then realize the team is across the ways a bit and just storm that location and catch them off guard from the rear diagonal flank.
Other maps... engagement area is usually either that spot or the other spot. Easily predicted and no need to be on guard because they can't do anything too different.
