Ive noticed a significant difference in Clan and IS mechs using the Ultra AC5. The IS AC5 only appears to fire a single shot whilst the Clan AC clearly fires two
Looking at the specs they both appear to have the same basic spec and mechanics.
IS and Clan 5 damage and 1.66s CD
except of course the CLAN is 3 slots not 5 and 7 tons not 9.

Doing two tests in the training grounds: (rerun to get clean runs with no jams)
IS: 100 shots in 156 seconds = 1.56s CD (pretty consistent with the 5% CD quirk on the mech, 1.64s CD without the quirk)

CLAN: 100 shots in 87 seconds= 0.87s CD effectively (would expect to see 1.66/2=0.83 s acceptable error)

It looks like the IS AC5 Ultra doesn't have any Ultra ;-( sniff

Mine started working when I said to myself: "duh", and pressed the trigger again after the first shot.

Oo you know that you have to press the trigger a second time during cooldown, so the ultra fires it's 2nd shot? Posted Image

If you just hold it, it fires like an AC5.

Clan UAC5 fires 2 slugs per trigger pull at 2.5 dmg per slug. 60 rounds per ton = 150 dmg/ton.

IS UAC5 fires 1 slug per trigger pull at 5 dmg per slug. 30 rounds per ton = 150 dmg/ton

Both types of UAC5 can be fired at double rate by firing again while on cooldown, with a chance of jamming.

IS gets full damage with 1 bullet. Clan has it's damage spread between multiple shots. They both deal the same damage.

Uh...wait...I think you're confused...

Each 'salvo' of the Clan UAC5 only does 5 damage. That 2 shot burst you're getting is 5 damage split in half. Each of those slugs in the burst does 2.5 damage for a total of 5. IS UAC5 however shoots a single 5 damage slug.

The Clan UAC weapons shoot multiple shells which together deal the stated damage (5, 10 and 20 depending on which cannon is used). The IS UAC5 shoots one shell which deals the same 5 damage.

The weapons both deal the same amount of damage, but the Clan one was changed to balance the lower weight. Both weapons can shoot the "ultra" shot if you pull the trigger during the cooldown period (which has a random chance of jamming the weapon). This is also the difference between an AC and a UAC (The AC can not shoot while in cooldown, but therefore does not jam either).

thx Rushin that makes it clear, misunderstood the two clans as the ultra mechanic, but its the 2 x 2.5. I fall upon my sword :-)
