Arguably the weapons could fire x times/10 seconds... what matters is that the damage numbers match up to the total damage said weapon would do in 10 seconds. so if a PPC does 10 damage, but can fire 1 time per 5 seconds, then it would do 5 damage a shot.

you can make the lore rules work, it just takes some creative work around's. Or you adapt Solaris 7 rules which have faster firing times and higher heat penalty's.

So, I could fire my Autocannons 5 times in a 10-second firing turn? Yeah... But they all hit the same spot on the enemy? No... There is no way to reconcile TT rules with Lore. Physically impossible.

Anyways, I think my favorite anti-meta builds are the Twin PPC Raven 3L with XL225 and ECM, Triple AC/10 Ilya, and quintuple AC/5 Maulers... All a hoot. All get people cringing when I list my loadout. Their tears fuel my mischievousness...

A direct 1:1 conversion? No. Close or a viable workaround. Yes.

Test it. Name a rule.

10 second turns? Increase cooldowns, not no 10 seconds, maybe 50% longer than what we have.... Testing required though overall I think we are fine where we are at.
Random hits? Introduce things like a real heat scale to achieve this in other ways.
Mechlab? How about sized hardpoints? The system I wrote up is simple.

Next.

And common sense FPS mechanics that increase TTK, like situational CoF, reticle sway, etc. All the things that make the Leet Pixel Snipers froth at the mouth... yet add realism, immersion, real skill to the game....as well as improve ttk.

Situational CoF, I like that. That's the reticle shake of MASC and JJs I also use in my heat scale for when you run too hot. :)

I've learned my lesson in regard to meta builds: ignorance is bliss.

Meta may be "better" (more alpha, dps, whatever) but my builds are more fun.
Knowing that meta players consider anything less than the meta build as "taking away from the team" takes away some of that fun and seeks to blame me and my enjoyment of the game (with my non-meta builds) for the team's (poorer) performance. Right or wrong, that sucks.

Its a video game. To me, it should first and foremost be fun.

I admit I will browse through what the meta builds dictate for a new chassis when I purchase it and start getting to know it. But then I put my own flavor on it. I love the sound of ballistics in this game. Quad AC2s or 6 MGs are pretty fun. As are big volly SRM setups.

Meta is effective, but often boring. Making your own thing work is far more enjoyable.
