Hello all,

Diplomacy between MechCorps could be very important for the meta-game in MWO. I hope developers take this very seriously aswell since it affects to the global balance of power into the persistant map.

It would be really nice to have some kind of system in place to "exchange" planets with others with no combat, or maybe for money, mechs and spare parts. Also they should include some options to create alliances between MechCorps to share missions, chat channels, loot, etc. I would also like to see that a player becomes some kind of representative when he/she gets the highest ranks in a House, so he can decide what to do with certain planets.

Did the they give any tip about how diplomacy between players is working to work?.

Cheers
LUDO

Nothing as of yet. As far as we know at the moment, mercs can only fight other mercs, and not faction or lone wolf players, on the border worlds of the various factions. That doesn't seem accurate to how the final game will be, but it's what we know for now. So basically... lots more yet to come.

Wait... In q/a 2 devs said:

Can members of a Mercenary Corp also work directly for a faction, and in addition to this if no, is there any way for Mercenary Corps to assist in the fight for faction worlds, not to take for themselves, but to assist the faction. –Haeso

[MATT C] Yes Merc Corps work for factions, though the planets taken working for a Merc Corp are different from the planets taken when working within the faction

That's my point, it is very confusing. We're missing some of the mechanics.

Mercs aren't faction players, mercs fight on border worlds for factions. Faction players fight on faction worlds, lone wolves fill in when there aren't enough faction players for the faction world fights. Maybe it's just me who is confused about how mercs fight anyone but other mercs and anywhere but on border worlds...

I believe, there will be 2 types of contracts for merc units: claim planet for yourself and claim planet for House.

Not at all sure though it will be definitely interesting to see how it works out. These concepts may evolve significantly running up to, during, and after release as we get an idea of how the game's virtual world will actually react once it is up and running.

Fun to speculate on.

I originally thought this was a post about diplomacy in the fictional world of the BT universe and I was going to say its really simple and I think this is a quote from one of the novels though I can't remember which.

"Promise them most of what they want. Give them some of what they need. Use them for all they are worth."

Anybody remember where that quote actually comes from?

Rhinehart, that sounds very Kuritan..and I know I've seen it before..Wolves on the Border maybe?

And..what do you mean Ludo..trade planets without any combat? PvP game, why would they include decidedly non-PvP ways for planets to be exchanged? Merc unit wants a planet, they get permission to take it from the House sponser, I'm pretty sure the House wouldn't be please to see them TRADE that planet by giving their ENEMY resources to use against them somewhere else, think that falls somewhere between 'treason' and 'giving aid to the enemy'..which is just another way of saying 'treason'.

That would be cause for a punishment strike by the House employing the mercs....
