So I have this (L)/Legendary/Loyalty/whatever Atlas which had been sitting in my hangar collecting dust because I was too afraid of being a 100 ton of useless weight and the prospect of carrying the team Joseph Mallan style was pretty daunting. It turned out that the Atlas is capable of carrying itself and has been wrecking face left and right with SRMs
I don't want to commit to the full metabuild of AC/20+4ASRM6 yet because I still need the med lasers and my Atlas is not yet elited so I use this AS7-S for the time being instead.
It's true that the AC/20 is easy to fall off, a fact which the HGN-733C doesn't have a problem with They should take it back to the drawing board or something.
I can't wait to pilot the D-DC next!

You have extra tonnage. *twitch*
Take some points off the legs to squeeze in another ton of SRM ammo! 300 isn't enough for four SRM2, let alone four SRM4!
Actually, slots. Remove a DHS instead!

Yeah, bring 1.5 ton of more ammo for the SRMs at the cost of 1 DHS is certainly an alternative.

Also, I'm a bigger fan of ASRM4 than ASRM6. The spread is so much tighter that you get more meaningful damage out of them. It's also far more frugal in ammo and heat. I remember enjoying this thing.
Just my preference.

You need Artemis and less laser, OP. MLs are too hot and largely unnecessary. You can keep two in CT for the sentimental value, but you will rarely find yourself on resting heat to use them, not to mention that laser burn time prevents you from shielding right after you shoot.

If you are only going to use two ML, you should keep them in the arms. Better for tracking faster mechs which is when you are most likely to need them anyway..

I got sick of the AC20 (so hot...) so I've been running this build on my S.

Yes I know, Gauss in a ******* Atlas? What am I, crazy?
The thing is, the Gauss gives me something to fire at ranges up to 900m, and it's still very usable in close range quarters (although the cooldown nerf makes it far worse than the AC20 in terms of DPS, naturally). The almost-zero heat profile it brings allows me to bring quad SRM6 (no Artemis, not a fan) and quad SPL.
Well, I find it fun to use anyway.

Just going to throw my build out there.

You can swap the medium lasers from CT to arms if you want, I like them in CT so that if I become a stick I'm not entirely useless and don't really have much trouble hitting the light mechs with my AC20+SRM6s.
Also I threw CASE in the AC20 side and put some extra ammo in the arm on that side so that explosions wouldn't carry over. Also I heard somewhere that ammo on that side gets used up first after CT and head ammo. Runs just a little bit slower than your one, but has quite a bit of extra firepower and ammo to back it up. The quad ASRM6s hit with about the same spread as the quad SRM4s, but that damage gets scary. Some people prefer the ASRM4s over the 6s, but I prefer the ability to oneshot anything 40 tons and under. I have memories of saving teammates with this thing by sneaking up behind people and firing a single salvo that managed to blow off both side torsos and leaving my ally to fetch the stick.
This is what I used to get it elited and its only gotten better since. Good luck.
EDIT: on the build I do frontload the armor quite a bit more though. You can also swap some armor between the arms and legs if you find you need it.
