Also doesn't help when MM is setting up games 1/2/5/4 and the other side drops in a Cheeto and you're in a lone Urby.

So funny story happened last night, I took my LCT-PB with quad MLas out for a spin lastnight for my last game of the night, got Polar and the strangest game occurred. After 8 minutes of maneuvering we finally made contact with the Red team, two minutes after that, it was me vs. A cherry red ST XL Battlemaster and an Urbanmech that was relatively fresh packing a UAC-5 and some lasers... Well it came down to me vs. Urbie.... That was a hell of a fight, fun too. When all was said and done, I had the victory, yet was legged and my armour across all locations was gone....

Great fight. Sounded like a real nail biter.

I once had a showdown with my Urbanmech sniper (3 LLasers) vs a Raven 3L (also, you guessed it), ERLLasers. It was on Canyon Network and it came down to us last 2 players. I had an exposed side torso and he was relatively healthy (some armor damage, but no holes).

I knew I couldn't beat him at range (plus with way more speed and ECM, I knew he would pick me apart), so I dove in a canyon where I could see the approaches and waited.

About a min or two later he dove in from above me. We continued to circle each other. It was tight quarters, so he often was hitting the cliff side or the nearby bridge strut. I just kept turning my turret and firing.

I was able to protect my damaged side torso long enough to punch through his ST and win the match. I think he underestimated how cool LLasers run in that setup plus my fire control was surprisingly good that match under pressure.

The key was making sure he came to fight on my terms. Had I stayed in the open, I'd be dead. I had to bring it to a close quarter brawl where his range and speed were negated. It worked well.

I don't normally take that 3 LLaser Urbie (I know it is blasphemy not to have a ballistic), but it served me well that match.

As I always say, don't fight on their terms, make them fight on yours. Do that and you'll stack the deck in your favour.

Hell when I first went from Clans to IS before the quriks, I would make Clan pilots fight me up close, where they didn't want me, and I'd press then till shut down then cockpit them.

Eh, I just usually walk quietly, then beat them to death with my big stick.

Not much needs to be said when my 67kph, ac10/mlaser Urbie is the last mech alive on the team, kills 3 Assault Mechs and has the high score, ya know?

I'm more offended when your whole team is Arctic Cheetahs, Stormcrows and Mad Cats.

I congratulate teammates and enemies alike when the put up a good fight in less popular
mechs - especially Urbies!

Nothing says fun times like charging a King Crab and ripping of their tasty claws!

Same with the Cicada, it's pretty much a oversized light listed as a medium that falls apart at the slightest hit and you have to bump the engine size way down to bring a decent meaningful amount of firepower.

Out of all of them I had the best luck with CDA-3C with this build, the weapons really complement each other(AC5+AC5's cooldown mod ROF and ERPPC's hard punch):

It's really been an uphill battle to master my CDA-2A(C)

People who do not like the Urbie need help because they do not like themselves.

I didn't realize the Urbanmech was so small! I finally saw one on the battlefield for the first time- alive that is. It was like seeing a Snowleopard or other rare, endangered animal. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Sure, I had seen the Youtube videos, and even seen one on in the drop window- but they started on the far side of the map and by the time I got over there, he was dead.

Facing off against it... I was just in awe and couldn't fire on it, even when it charged me, AC and machineguns blazing. I... couldn't squeeze the trigger. How could I? Such a rare sight... I just turned aside and walked away. A few seconds later, he got cored by a teammate. I cried a little.

Honestly, the CDA-2A(C) might be my favorite Cicada and one of my favorite mediums. I haven't touched it in the Mechbay either (other than camo and modules). This mech made me like the Cicada because previously I thought they were ugly houses on chicken legs (insert pic of Baba Yaga's hut). Well OK I still think that, but I at least now appreciate and respec the mech.

I might sell the 3M despite the ECM, it just doesn't speak to me. The 2B is my problem child of the bunch. I'll sell it and let my Crab handle the MPLaser duty (way more durable for a close range fighter).

If I have one word of advise for the 2A, it is an excellent poker with decent MLaser range. Play it like a big coward (keep your distance, poke and run... Poke and run...), and you will get much better results.

That's funny you called it ugly because my friend who has never played a MW game looked at the cicada and said the same thing. lol

You're right about the 2B, for 2 days in a row I lost in that mech(which is the reason for my uphill battle) then I switched mechs and starting winning again then switched back to the 2B and the losses rained again, so I said "F it" and used my GXP to finish the basic on it.

The only ones I can like are the 2A(C) and 3C, didn't own the 3M to know.

urbies suck.. really.. they suck..

Do you know what doesn't help their suck? The fact that EVERYONE likes to shoot Urbies.. so your in a mech that sucks.. but everyone wants to kick your *** as well cuse your in the redheaded, mutant, toxic avenger, midget, paraplegic, tin can with a kick me sign on it mech.

I will gladly GLADLY stop shooting a Dire Wolf to hammer an Urbie pilot

I don't really care that much anyway (unless a team mate intentionally TKs me or legs me). Words are just words. I'm just surprised teammates would go out of their way to shame a fellow teammate.

Second thought, no I'm not surprised. Almost every match a player hates on their team if they die. Heck, even if their team wins, they still yell about how stupid their team was in general chat.

Honestly, nothing should surprise me in PUGlandia lol.

I was in that game and one of the players making comments about wanting to kill urbanmechs. Jokes are jokes, right? That being said, bringing very bad mechs does put your team at a large disadvantage.
