Hi, considering the Stalker sale. For no other real reason than I like the look of them.
Yes there are older threads, I would like some adivice of Stalkers on todays battlefields.
Are they a solid assault mech or is there a glaring weakness.
Having fought against, the 'arms' seem to 'pop' off...?

I'm not a big LuRM fan, though enjoy running a support role. Do stalkers tank?

Which 3 would you advise?

the 3 I chose were the 5M, 5S, and 4N
they are great assault mechs, but they have weak ST's like a Jager, so a STD engine is a necessity. They can lead a push in CW, but an Atlas or Kingcrab would be better.

here are my builds, all quite effective (acceot for my 5S, its a work in progress
i can't find a build i like for the 5S, but it does have LPL quirks.
my 5M has 4 SRM4 art, 4 MPL, and 1 LPL. really fun brawler, can destroy anything smaller than it. The Hardpoint in the CT i great when im a stick, if you stick a ERLL or LPL in it.

my 4N i bought originally for meta, but that build was boring so i put 2ERLL, 2 LRM15, and 4 ML
Stalkers are always a good choice. In fact, ive considered buying them all the way in beta, and Im glad i finally made that choice.

I just got a 4N and a 3H. The 3H stock build (2 SRM6, 2 LRM20, 4 ML) is pretty good if you up the engine to a STD300 and add endo and DHS. Got some good quirks on LRM20s and energy.

3F or 5S - 3F gets better torso twist range, 5S gets dual AMS and comes with an XL255 which may be useful on something else, like a spider. 5S also has better quirks.

4N gets the strongest quirks of all the stalkers, for large lasers.

5M because it has 5 missile hardpoints.

Just used the 5M so far and ... OMFG! first match was kill, after kill, after kill! 2x Bursts of everything each - really impressed.
Even felt brave enough to face down a DWF & won.

4N, 3H, 5M, and misery are the ones to look at atm.

4N runs 6 LLas. Fire them 3 at a time, it's solid.

3H does 4Lpl better than the 4N. It has solid quirks, and can push more damage with less exposure time, but has a shorter range.

5M can do heavy srm builds. Not as useful all the time, but it can really shine.

Misery is a great mech. It can deadside with ac20 and 2ppc/2 lpl or gauss and 3llas.

All stalkers are best ridge poking. Those high mounts are among the best in the game.

Was just a great match, watching a targeted Cent wall around a corner and into a face full of SRM6, he backed and twisted but ... not fast enough! From then on it was kill after kill, I was almost crying with laughter!

Admitedly, was very good conditions and I was a 'fox in the hen house' at the time - such fun!

Dude, rocked the M last night with 3LPL, 3ASRM6. Alpha is@71 damages.
Deadside that pickle!

Roll damage and give them the SRM treatment.

Gets hot but 71 damage on a light assault that can tank is pretty nice.

Made an SRM Atlas second guess trying to brawl me 1 v1 after i wrecked his missile side. I lost my dead arm, no biggie.

Shizz is crazy.
