This is the very first piece of concept art we got:

And regardless of how hitbox mcwonky the mech wound up being in subsequent iterations, plenty of us fell in love with it just based on the artwork.

So, while we were all jabbering on these forums and catching each dripping morsel falling from the PGIIGP table, we got regaled with these gems:

And everyone got properly hot and bothered. Thus began the proud tradition of recoloring concept artwork to represent one's favorite units. Sigs were made and merc coalitions created (still not playable game yet, mind you. Lol). OOooh those were heady days.
