I'm not sure if this happened during the last patch or if the network change was implemented separately from the patch, but after the last patch my OC server pings came down from ~250 to ~150, while simultaneously ratcheting up my NA pings from ~220 to ~400. I'm in Wellington, NZ.
This latency is so bad that I'm taking NA servers off of my list (although I may try EU to see if they've gotten better). That's going to also have the effect of preventing me dropping with my Unit till the NA server situation gets fixed.
I don't know if PGI is playing around with their leased server locations, or if this is external to PGI - a network issue outside of their control.

As a general rule it is not PGI's fault. More then likely it is a ISP issue with routing.
Run a tracert to mwomercs.com and that will tell you the path and where you are getting the high ping.

I keep hearing something about Telstra main undersea cable being busted, so alternate routing via Europe is happening and causing really bad latency

Late last year I had an issue where my ISP routed my packets from Perth to Hong Kong then up to Japan and across to NA.
When I spoke to my ISP the SD guys said we dont control this so it cannot be fixed.
I knew someone who worked for my ISP and had a chat to them about it, after a weekend of bad ping it was fixed on the Monday. What had happened, they had put some backup routes in which somehow became the default routes, clicked a few buttons on their end and working fine.

That Telstra cable break happened in Oct 2015, but the sudden jump in NA latency only happened after last patch (or thereabouts). I'll have to keep an eye on it and report back when it has changed. I'll probably do that in the OC Server Discussion thread in General discussions.
