I think i have this problem too, just with a brand new install. The downaloding part works fine, i have the .zip in the MWOUpdate folder and it checks out fine, i even have the unpacked version in the patchFiles folder, but the patcher just quits without any error after that. I can restart it and it will skip the downloading part and start preparing right away, but just quits every time without any message.

I think PGI needs to issue a statement about this if they havent already.... I haven't found one after searching for almost an hour, so forgive me if they have. I had to change the date on the system Im currently installing on just to get the patcher to DL and install becuase of certificate dates (no excuse for PGI there). I had to look on the forums a bit to find the workaround just to get the patcher to finish (ps those forum topics had 0 PGI members post). Now the patch itself gets 1/2 (finishes DL) and crashes when trying to unpack. No error messages or anything. These problems are egregious if you ask me. People are posting that you need to make folders that don't exist or the patcher didnt create and all that junk; again these arent PGI persons I see posting this. I understand its "beta" but it has been open beta for almost a year so thats no longer a valid excuse IMO. Im simply trying to expand the fan base and install/present the game to a friend, it works great with no problems on my machine, the only major difference btwn my machine and the one with the install problem is graphics, ATI vs Nvidia....... Guess what? He, more than likely, wont play because of these problems Im having. I understand its a "minor problem" but he doesnt, I may have lost atleast one person, forever... Soak that in PGI, imagine those numbers multiplied by how many ppl play the game. Then imagine if I was having a problem with MY machine with a fresh install and my premium time burning up while I couldnt play, that could be fatal to my confidence in PGI, hell the whole game... maybe instead of releasing new purple mechs and being worried about the "economy of the game" or "what gimic will get our money" the focus should be getting it work properly... could someone please comment on the location I can find the fix, since PGI only seems to chime in when ppl are attacking other ppl?

Have you guys tried to start the launcher with administrator rights? At least on Win7 that fixed the problem for me.

**** this, I was about to install a new game on my PC to try it out and now I see that the game has an incompetent developer who doesn't support its users. Thanks, I won't waste my time on a broken game.
