IT. IS. A. SLUG.

Even with a max engine, I feel like im driving a legged atlas with a standard 150....

The reason why I say this is because I decided to randomly pick one of my old hangar queens to take it out for a spin, My Warhawk A has not seen the light of day since probably a week after clans initially dropped. its got 2 large lasers a uac20 and 3 srm6es....

I absolutely wrecked...my first game was a respectable 560 damage loss but the second one? 860+...and i fired ALL my ammo...5 tons of Uac20 ammo and 2 and a half tons of SRM ammo...I have probably dumped ammo like that 3 times my entire time playing this game. I was in shock...I was dogfighting with hellbringers, and blackjacks and all manner of fast medium and heavy mechs and was able to keep guns on them the entire time. Hell one guy i shot out the air with a full burst from my UAC20....

The Arms and torso don't feel like they are set in concrete, so I could accurately bring my guns to bear quickly. Ive tried similar builds on the Highlander and havent gotten anywhere near those numbers. There is NO reason that mech should FEEL so sluggish and so bad when Maneuverability is supposed to be its calling card. IS or Clan version. IS and the Clan highlanders honestly feel as slow, if not slower than pretty much ALL the 100 tonners in the game...I feel more confident driving a WHALE than a HighlanderIIC. The Victors despite them being so rare now are STILL workable to a similar degree because they can actually MOVE...thier jump jets also don't take 3 years to propel the mech up...you can play them like big mean heavy mechs (the way you are supposed to, and what they where designed to do) and get away with it.

Pretty sure that's the same reason that the IS Highlander also sucks.

Yes I mentioned the IS highlander as well. THey are both bad for the same reasons and the IS one actually has some movement quirks...thats just how poor it is Maneuverability wise...

A fully elited (2x) Highlander IIc can be out turned, out twisted, and out accelerated by a basiced (1x) Atlas with the same 325 engine...Yes it is that bad.

But we better not give it any quirks, or it will be OP, like the Summoner and Kit Fox. Gotta be careful what we give those Clan scumbags.

Seems like all IIC mechs are kind of lackluster. I rarely see another Orion IIC which really makes me sad. Ok, not seeing IS Orions often either to be fair.

A hunchback you can see from time to time and the Jenners seem to be solid enough that you stumble upon them here and there.

But the Highlander IIC? Maybe I saw 4 or so since release. Even on the last event I saw only one guy with it.
And it looks so cool with those 4 sputnik antennas Posted Image

I only paid for the Orion upgrade (won the hunch package) and I'm happy I didn't pay more. Looks like the whole "IIC will be OP" debate popped like a balloon because no one ever takes one out. Must be the least sold pack from PGI to this day.

I want my Highlander IICs to be good...but they're so fragile and slow.

Because it's a highlander.

I run my Highlander IIC as a long range fighter (erLLs, Gauss, and LRMs) to try to mitigate the fact that it moves like a glacier. Originally I kitted it out as more of a brawler, but it kept getting wrecked every time that I lumbered it out of cover in order to take a shot.

Maybe if PGI made the 6 to 10 (heavy metal) tons of jump jets on the IS and clan highlanders actually worth their tonnage it would be less bad. But alas a mech given jump jets to offset its low speed with high mobility for its tonnage is clearly overpowered.

And its horrible mobility limits any potential it has. The mech can strap a surprising amount of weapons to the chassis but any attempt to bring them to bear usually ends with half you mech being ripped off.

The thing is like a Dire Wolf without the firepower to make enemies run for cover.

The onion iic is pretty bad-***. I've had several 1k+ games in that thing with pokey builds. The Jen iic hands down the most fun I've had with a light. Hunchy iic is top-notch in my opinion, really needs to be played from behind cover tho, its super squishy but lays down a ton of fire. Can't play it like a IS HBK.

But the High IIc? Feels really out paced by most of its comparable weight class.

Yep, the IIC Mechs seem to be quite lack luster. Their IS counterparts don't suffer so hard because they at least have some quirks :(

Hmpf, perhaps I do it wrong by my Highlanders IIc kind of kick ***. Didn't master them yet even.

HGN-IIC 13 6 7 0.86 13 7 1.86 5,510 19,663 01:16:17 HIGHLANDER IIC
HGN-IIC-A 7 5 2 2.50 12 3 4.00 4,226 19,399 00:56:50 HIGHLANDER IIC
HGN-IIC-B 8 5 3 1.67 9 4 2.25 4,447 14,432 00:59:31 HIGHLANDER IIC
HGN-IIC-C 8 5 3 1.67 12 4 3.00 4,372 20,525 00:49:55

Perhaps reality catches up, but so far I feel like I have lots of firepower and sufficiently more speed than a DWF not to be too crippled. Perhaps I'll change my mind when I play them more...
