One More Ballistic For The Spirit Bear!

I'd really like to see the Kodiak Hero shine when it drops in May, but as the mech is now, it seems to be sorely lacking in hardpoints. PGI seemed to be going for a low hardpoint count brawler but in my opinion they killed the whole design by only giving it a single Ballistic hardpoint. I think giving it just one more on the same torso could save the design. What do you guys think?

To be honest it already seemed super powerful. I don't really mind the mech I'm going to be using getting even more powerful or more build options, but it seems to be good to be honest.

I think PGI should give the Dragon Slayer, like, 3 more energy hard points, plus an arm ballistic hard point, and increase the missile tube counts to 15/15.

I could see it run with 2x LPL, 1x LBX/UAC/20, and 4x ASRM 4s, MASC.
-or-
2x LPL, 1x Gauss Rifle, 4x LRM 10, MASC.
Nothing else really comes to mind, and both builds are things you could run on a Highlander-IIC B

Yeah I get that too. IMO 2 Energy and 1 Ballistic isn't enough, increase the count of one or the other. I'm hoping Russ will think about it before the Kodiak enters it's modeling stage. I realize it's probably a long-shot to try to get Russ to change it, but if it's going to happen, it's going to be early on in the process.

Then again the KDK-4 has 2 ballistics, 2 missile and 4 energy...

UAC20, 4 ASRM6s, 2 MPLs or ERMLs, MASC, 400XL engine, and enough ammo and heatsinks to run it well. Think of it as a super fast Atlas with more firepower but without the structure quirks. Its going to be OP as a brawler and it can also run a load of long range builds.

But I'd like resonable changes..+2 E and +1 ballistic would be a bit much...one or the other, and I'd much rather have 6 energy hardpoints on it than 1 extra ballistic.

The unique camo probably gets factored into PGI's mech balance equation.

The Atlas can deliver a frontloaded barrage of up to 68 dmg, the damage spread from the spirit bear will dimish that Atlas charm though.
Besides the Spirit Bear will absolutely pale before the Kodiak 3 which can run 2x UAC10, 2x UAC/5 and 4x cERSL with an XL 400.
Make no mistake I'm getting the standard package, I'm just not going to shell out $15 for the hero unless it gets a hardpoint increase.

Atlas does get more frontloaded damage, but Spirit Bear gets more damage overall, especially if you double tap with the UAC20. You'd go and put out 104 damage in the duration of the medium pulse lasers with an ASRM6 blast and a double tap of the UAC20.
But really the main thing that makes this mech powerful isn't just that its already faster than an Atlas and has more firepower, its that it also has MASC, which is getting a buff to 30% speed increase. This means that after eliting the Kodiak you will be able to use MASC to move at 90kph for periods of time.
A 100 ton assault mech moving at 90kph. That seems pretty decent to me.
