I don't really see the value of XP conversion (due to having too much GXP in the first place) unless you need the convenience. Even then, if you play a lot (or enough), it's easier than gaining C-bills (assuming you have more to buy with them).

The event part of XP conversions is underwhelming, but moreso that it isn't really a "goal" outside of your wallet.

That's what makes this event (outside of the double XP weekend part) pretty pointless.

Finally something to spend some of the MC I have on. Once that bucket is empty, it's empty. So now I have a big chunk of my modules unlocked. I can focus on making some money to buy the modules I need, and maxing out all those mechs I have. Neat.
But yeah, for the most part it's some cosmetic stuff and consumables. Sure when you convert 100k+ xp you get a little ingame money. It is a fair bit of MC though, and anyone converting a million xp total has either more money or time than sense. Whatever.
I kept hoping for another special on mastery packs, but there are too many mechs in my garage now that I don't play or it's not worth the wait in the heavy queue to play a weight class I rarely run -- let alone run well.

Double XP should be enough. Stop whining. This is extra stuff they added for people who may be on the fence on converting GXP.

I accidentally converted my mc before the event started. I mistook the event announcement for the start of the event. It was completely my fault, but I wasted 2000 mc

You might talk to support. Maybe they'll help you out with this one

So I checked out the event page.

Is no one else concerned that this might set a new trend? I'm all for events that sometimes only "count" if done in quickplay as well as events that only "count" if you drop CW or whatever.

The thing I'm not "ok" with is setting up events where players who pay money are the only ones to get rewards.

You seriously get no rewards unless you spend cash to convert XP?

That's obviously not P2W, but it's a bad precedent to set.

PGI is all for setting precedents this week.

I don't have a problem with this tactic. When people spend money the game makes progress. A little reward for the freebies, a little extra reward for the spendies. Sounds like a good plan to me.

These events are really just bonuses, we shouldn't expect them to happen at all, let alone to all players equally. I much prefer these types of events to the "leaderboard challenges" that only reward the super-dedicated players.

Why, only 20,000 MC spent and you get a hanging golden c-bill and an island.

.

I agree, which is why no reward is given to free players. Even if it was a singular cockpit item showing their participation in the event.

The only difference to this double XP weekend is you get more for your MC conversion (assuming you hit the criteria) than all the previous ones.

I don't ever convert mc but I am happy those that do are getting a bonus. I don't see much value in it this just adds a little more value to those that use this feature,

This type of event encourages spend. The only way to keep the servers up is to make $$. And look at the rewards, they aren't that great. But they are a little bonus, so it's cool. I'm totally okay with this event.

I spent a few hundred spare MC.
Got some extra GXP to throw at a variant to get the three required variants I need to master (so I don't have to waste time grinding out a rig that doesn't fit my playstyle).
As a reward, I got some cockpit swag and extra consumables.

It's fine.
It wasn't the devil and certainly wasn't "disturbing."

That's not an event dude, that's a marketing opportunity where they give you a tiny freaking bonus for spending cash to convert XP.

They give you a meaningless badge to go along with it, woopdie doo.

i converted 5mc to trim it off to an even 1k, because ocd. you need to blow a hundred mc just to get a bullet and a bunch of consumables you could just buy. the only thing i use gxp on anymore is leveling mechs and im getting extra anyway.
