IDEA: Make Testing Grounds A Group Activity Option
The testing grounds are a great place for a solo person to test out their Mech, however, I think it would be much more beneficial if we could group with a party of at least 12 people to be able to practice, try out formations and also be able to "talk" via mic to each other. This would be extremely beneficial if we could do this with Clan War maps as well... Being able to test out mechs by yourself is one thing, being able to test them out in a group setting is another. Not sure how many people actually use the Testing Grounds but I can imagine the usage of that area would spike up big time.

That's great, but that doesn't do anything for the clan (guild) that wants to coordinate activities with just people in a safe environment. Plus, the majority of players are not Premium so that would limit the solution to less than the majority of the player base. "Testing Grounds" needs to be an area where you can "queue" up with other people in your group. That would solve the problem of 1 vs. 1 and like I said before, would allow people to test out formations, group activities, etc.

To start with, I've never paid for premium time. I get what you're saying, but I don't blame PGI for not making it happen. They gave us a free game to play, other stuff is fluff. A group drop on testing grounds would require as much server use as an actual drop, that could end up being a considerable expense. A 1v1 in private lobby uses up that same chunk of server as well, but both players have paid a little real money to cover screwing around.

In the original "Mech Warrior Online" you could do this... It was a great feature.

As the previous poster said the testing grounds is the local client only. As soon as another player is involved it takes the same server space as a 12v12 hence cost PGI money and therefore required premium time. This isnt unreasonable in the slightest. Private lobbies require 2 people i believe with prem time which is minimal
