Is no one else concerned that this might set a new trend? I'm all for events that sometimes only "count" if done in quickplay as well as events that only "count" if you drop CW or whatever.
The thing I'm not "ok" with is setting up events where players who pay money are the only ones to get rewards.
You seriously get no rewards unless you spend cash to convert XP?
That's obviously not P2W, but it's a bad precedent to set.

Yes. Double XP weekends have ALWAYS meant that you get 2x xp in matches, and a discounted rate at converting from one to the other.
If you don't want to convert XP, you can still benefit from playing and getting the 2xp boost anyways. All the prizes are is just a little extra for something that used to not give you anything.
(I know you probably already know this Gas Guzzler, just posting it for everyone else.)

I think PGI is perfectly on track to have events that players who have invested benefit from. It adds value to those purchases.
No one is taking anything away from anyone. PGI is rewarding players who have contributed, and why shouldn't they reward people who are paying money for their game?
The idea that everyone deserves equally free stuff all the time is a more dangerous precedent to set imo. It creates whiners with a sense of entitlement.

Seems like a great precedent to set if you ask me.

As your lawyer, I advise you to abstain from spending any MC in this event to convert GXP, in the hopes that PGI will see the error of their ways.

PGI gives away free MC during events. They've done it many times. Grab Bags, personal challenges, etc.
/thread
Edit: better reopen it before someone lies about the obvious. There is also free double XP for this event. No MC even needed to earn double XP.

PGI playing to stuff for those that spend money during a free event is a slippery slope.
Double XP = fine
Giving away items that only those who spend $$ can ear? = slippery slope
Doing a giveaway or "loyalty reward" based on previous purchases is not the same as this example.
If they were giving away stuff to free players as well and just adding in an incentive to spend money during event? That's a different example altogether as well.
Now you can take what I've said (which is a very well worded response) to be a blanket response to all the "Ehr meh gerd! Sandpit has tinfoil now!"
Nowhere did I jump up and down, nowhere did I imply anything "evil" or "broken promises" or "P2W", I stated (twice now since so many on the forums seem to have a very severed reading comprehension issue apparelty

Instead of wailing and flailing in outrage, I posted MY personal thoughts on it, have expanded upon it in this post, and explained the meaning behind the post so that PGI can see that I, as a customer and player of this game, and not comfortable with events like this. Then I stated the specific reasons why.
Now if even of you forumites have anything intelligible to say on that topic, please do so. The rest of you, just keep showing PGI why everyone thinks that forums are just a cesspool of trolls for the most part.

You get double XP from matches?
That's the event, it's low key.

1) cbill sale
2) double xp event to level up mechs bought during cbill sale
3) KMDD based event which resulted in less idiotic behaviour compared to kill, or kill assist events.
4) more rewards for those that pay to support the game
5) informative super long town hall session, after the very useful steam launch videos.
6) Kodiak
Thanks PGI
but could u release details of next mech pack please
