HBK-4P
Why? 9 medium laser scalpel that cuts side torsos off like a carving knife through paper. That and going 94kph is pretty sweet.

I'll join on hunchies... but Murderback mate :)

Great, you have the Shadowhawks, pretty good mechs there.
I recommend the enforcers. Gotta love the dakka P one, just for fun times at least. They all have decent hardpoints, hough akward gap between energy HP on the left side torso. The arm weapons are the main strenght and their great hitboxes and profile. Pretty though mech with STD engine.

I notice no one's mentioned the Trebuchet or the Kintaro either...

Crab is by far best med in game in my opinion.

300 or so XL, 5-6 medium pulse, lots of armor, BAP, and go to town. It tanks a lot more than most people realize and is one of the VERY few mechs outside of lights I'll run an IS xl engine in

Hunchbacks. They have great quirks and span a bunch of different play options from Brawly types (G, 4SP, 4P) to longer ranged (J, GI) and a bit skirmishy (H). They also include both symmetric and asymmetric models, have laser, ballistic, SRM and LRM options.

Blackjacks are also good - but given the impending adjustments and the wider scope available on the HBK, that'd be my pick.

Enforcer. Jump jets, great hard points, very tanky and xl friendly.

Oddly enough, I've been looking at both the Loup de Guerre and the Golden Boy, but I have RFLs inbound so it will be awhile before I have spare change to spend on a hero mech. They would both seem to be potentially interesting SRM brawlers. I like the WVR better for its ability to roll a little dakka in there (Quarantine and 6R with AC/5, 7D(L) with uAC/5), though. I've tried the 7K and I hate it. It's hot, and has no dakka. And the 6K is the one everyone thinks is the best WVR...it's getting its energy range quirk more than halved, plus no dakka AND no jets. Thank you, but no.

Centurion CN9-AH , AC 20 (arm mounted - more range of motion over hunchback) and 2 SRM4's, shield arm, twist and boom. 88kph. Awesome PUG queue brawler, find the fatties and let them be your bullet magnet/meat shield and boom/boom/boom. Once mastered and moduled you'll be netting 700-800DMG matches and 4-5 kills. And yes occasionally you'll die very fast because you walked into a wub/dakka storm, but generally you won't be the priority target so murder the unsuspecting pilot up close and personal.

I think there are lots of solid medium mechs, but they also fit different play styles...

- Hunchbacks are really direct support mechs, meaning they perform best when they are in groups with larger mechs.
- Cicadas, maybe the only truly solo mech, it can do lots of things, but doesnt bring a ton of fire, but are very fast for their size
- Griffons, I am surprised no one mentioned these... I do very well in my ECM model, but I don't own the others, they are good to run in small groups or a lance, very fast for the fire power
- Enforcers are fire support mechs that work the best targeting much larger mechs from medium range... 400m, however enforcers can stand alone against other mediums and heavies
- Crabs seem to be really really really good. I hate fighting them... they are so fast and can pack a punch. They seem to do well like hunches and may have similar loadouts, but have a smaller profile and are faster.

So that should help describe what is good based on what you want to do.

Can't beat the BJs for CW. High mounts, good hitboxes, and hardpoints galore for a slim 45 tons. They're a mainstay of many a drop deck.

Love my Crabs and Cicadas both.

Don't own any BJs yet, but they sure are hard to kill for their size.

You can tell that the Vindicator is traveling well when it fails to get a mention in the initial list of Inner Sphere medium mechs. Even light mechs such as the Panther or Urbie rate a note and then a correction comes through for the missing IS medium mechs, such as the the Kintaro and Trebuchet, it fails yet again.

Just as our Glorious Leader intends! Vindicator are testing the new stealth armor. So far it is most effective in forums.

Blackjack would be my suggestion as well. Hard to beat those high mounted weapons. Second choice would be the Hunchback.

I love my Trebuchet's but they are not beginner mechs. Their advantage is their maneuverability. With a 300 + engine, they move like a light. I run the 3C with a 360xl engine. There have been many a light pilot I have surprised with that build.

Thanks for your thoughts! Much appreciated.

Votes so far:
Hunchback: 8
Blackjack: 5
Enforcer: 3
Wolverine: 3
Centurion: 2
Cicada: 1 (it's gone plaid!)
Crab: 1

Special mention:
Da Urbie!

actually that's pretty much the order i'd suggest except of course to move urbie up to say third only because it's not a medium. move the crab up ahead of cents too. kintaros work well for me but I wouldn't place them ahead of hunchies. hunchies are great welcome to mediums mech since you have the option of trying everything type of build out there in some variant or another.

Forgot to mention. I have 4 Kintaros and while they are not the fastest, their hitboxes as far as I know have become better. Their usefulness IMO become alot better since the last quirk pass. Also along with Griffins, a couple of them can be effective SRM/ LRM boats. Some say that that the Griffin is still faster and hit harder but they cant take just much beating, like the Kintaro can.

Fun fact. The Kintaro was build (by the DC?) around the NARC becon system. So it should be though enough to come into range, NARC an enemy mech for the teams joy and fight it out. My only gripes are that the hardpoints could have been a bit better and faster maybe. No jumjets may hurt since its also not a fast medium but I dont care, I rather put in a bigger engine than JJets.

I have played blackjacks, huncbacks, cicadas and enforcers. Blackjack is my definitive choice.
