So, after eliting a chassis I always choose 2 variants to keep and sell the third. I do this to preserve as many 'Mech Bays as possible so that I can have a good variety of 'Mechs.
Currently, I'm working on the Griffin.
Now, the 2N is a no-brainer, what with ECM and all. So, I'll definitely be keeping that one.
The other two I have are the 3M and 1S. One of them stay, the other goes. I'm not over-fond of either.
Community, present your arguments!
Thanks!

1s is my only medium LRM mech: 275xl, 4jj (I think), 2 Lrm-10+A, 4 ML and a beagle. I had a tag in place of 1 of the ML but I dropped it because I am so mobile in this thing that I just never was able to keep it on target. I hate LRMs but this thing is less a boat and more a harasser, and it is just a lot of fun. Tried the 4-Lrm 5 build and didn't like it as much. Likewise the 4 SRM (4 and 6) and felt like the 2N did it better. The 4ML are a fine close range punch, but you do need to watch the heat.
Can't stress the irrational amount of fun this build provides. A hunchback 4j is still a bit better for rapid fire lrming with a similar build (no jj though) but I don't have hunchbacks. Add the LRM cool down module and you are nearly at the same rate of fire as the 4j.

3M, with the hardpoints mostly on the same side, and more missile hardpoints, is probably your better bet.

I like the Griffins, but I have to ask: Why are you keeping 2 of them if you only really like one of them? There is not that big a difference between the 2N and the others, and the 2N (as you stated) has ECM. I would just keep the one that you like and sell the other 2.

skill them up then sell them, get full elites and call it done then you can master the 2n.
till someone can confirm, you should master the preferred mech before you sell the two, but you need to get all elite level skill points on the two secondary variants first.

Griffins were the first chassis I mastered. I keep them all, for purely nostalgic reasons, and also because each can do something at least a little differently from, if not better than, the others.
I run a LRM-isher build like Bud's on the 1S. I pack an XL280 or XL255 depending on my mood. "Irrationally fun" is pretty accurate. Don't hide, stick close enough to both get your own locks and to pick off juicy red components with the ML Falcon Punch. Plenty mobile enough, too.
On the 2N and 3M, I run SRMs. It's on the 3M that I run 4xSRM4A. On the 2N, I run the ninja berserker build of 4xSRM6A. Reasons:
The tight grouping of SRM16 in the RT is really mean-spirited on the 3M. Worth. It. The 2N on the other hand can do something no other Griffin can, due to the missile points being split between the 2 STs. It can run 4xSRM6A, 2 in each torso, for tightly-grouped SRM24 barrages. Now, without ghost heat until the 5th SRM6 launcher, this is really quite very nasty and runs even cooler.
Your call

Thanks for the feedback, everyone!
After reading this and playing a bit more in-game, I have decided I will definitely sell the 1S and probably keep the 3M. One reason is that I have found the 3M to be notably more durable.
Major reason I like to keep a second variant is variety. If I ever get short on 'Mechbays, those "seconds" would go; until then, I keep 'em around.
