No clue, but I know I got some support from a dev or two (Tina is always down with more pink! And the Candyhammer I designed for he has to get me some brownie points, lol) and some NGNG types... and I am not sure about Alex, but he did kick out a Fozzi Kodiak....

I'll admit to having a bit of stiff upper lip regarding machines of war having and overall look of silly things.

But more so it brings this game ever more closer to looking like <your general fps shooter> with robotic man sized skins, game is having enough "believability" issues with scale as it is. Which makes me a sad bear I want these things to have look and feel of towering warmachines and it is getting watered down as we go onward, frankly it is one of the selling points of this whole thing. I hope I am not alone in this.

Look up Captain Gregg Oliphant of the Eridani Light Horse on Camospecs.

His banshee has clown makeup, and wears a giant jesters cap.

Or Vanity Torres of Comachos Caballeros.... Who pilots a gold plated Battlemaster.

Both canon warriors and mechs.

Not claiming it doesn't happen in lore, but you go and give jolly idiot mechwarriors tools to make game look silly, they will.
This I dread and the aforementioned sense of scale not improving, rather the opposite... you don't think top hats and teddies on field of battle don't do exactly this?

Sadly enough the redone maps don't seem to be scale improved, which they could do with little things. But no
