just pug on the outer rims with the pirates and the garrison mercs. I only click 2 game modes and most of the time I only end up playing those 2 game modes.

The thing is though, that even if I do play the objectives - neutering mechs pays out more and contributes more to a win these days (depending on the map).

The thing is though that any drop commander worth his salt should be able to play all the of modes and know how to play the situation... which is probably an issue for some players.

Nope. Don't miss it at all. Totally and completely cool with soft selection. Frankly everybody plays everything as Skirmish anyways. here's hoping that new King of the Hill thing Piranha's working on spices things up, or the enhanced bases for Assault.

Want to run nothing but Skirmish all day erry day? They have private matches for that, and I happen to know that you've got a whole Galaxy of private match bros, Gyrok.

Also, as I recall, that was during your amazing display of stupidity by doing a whopping 200 damage in an assault mech.

It is less an issue from the sense that my group can play it well...but when you have a 4 man that goes off to cap in heavy mechs it kind of screws the rest of you.

Yeah, I only map vote when Polar comes up as an option. I do like that they changed up the lance spawn points on Alpine, have had some good battles near the tower recently. Variety is nice.

True beans, and I have rarely ever had a match go beyond 7 minutes...Assault, Skirmish, or Conquest. The whole "lone light hiding" thing is way overblown. It's just not a thing, only in rare instances does it happen. (at least at T3 and T2)

The modes are so similar to each other right now, there wasn't really any point to hurting the queue times just to let people pick. With all the other factors MM has to try to balance, leaving it on random would be best, IMO.

As I said, the reason, why Skirmish was implemented at some point - is constant NASCAR cap rushes. I don't care about game mode now - every mode is being played as Skirmish now anyway. Some team cap rushes? Well, ok. I don't care about winning anyway - that way I will get my Skirmish faster.

It was a sacrafice that gave us *extremely* quick match times. I remember waiting 20+ minutes at times to find a freaking match. Now (pre-steam, even) it generally takes only a few seconds. At most, 15-20.

If not being able to "choose" game-mode 100% of the time is the requirement, so be it. Backing it 100%.

I personally am not seeing better wait times. They seem to be same as ever,I often wait quite some time for a match. I dislike voting because it allows other players to dictate my game experience to me. Gyrok now has the ability to force me to play his favourite mode, a which before I had permanently switched off!
I HATE hiding campblobwarrior online.
Not only can random affect my enjoyment of matches, they can also choose how I suffer for me. Nice?

I don't think the people who say the wait times are the same are remembering them very clearly. The drop in wait times has been noticably drastic. The voting system is kinda lame and I'd rather have full random, but I guess it placates those who feel they need to have some control while keeping all the maps in play.

I have to laugh at this its not the crappy vote system that has reduces wait times its the fact the MM has been un-restricted and can pick any tier1-tier5 pilots and throw them all in one egg basket match.

Meh...bad pilots took a bad position and we lost.

In that specific instance, 3 mechs moved to B4 to take a GOOD position against the enemy, while 9 mechs sat behind the downed ship waiting for the inevitable rush from crow's nest and got plastered against the buildings by the murderball.

Your T4 BS strategy does not work in T1-T2.

I would also point out that your entire lance had match scores mostly worse than mine, and I was focused <2 minutes into the match. What was your entire unit's excuse?

If you want to prove piloting skills, you can 1v1 me in a private lobby anytime.

Can confirm, pilots in T5 have ended up in my group queue matches.

Times for solo queue were never *that* long to begin with. Now, I still see waits in the 3-5 minute range regularly, and for me, that is not worth sacrificing the ability to play the game the way I want.

I think the only ones that do fell into two groups:
Group one wanted to only play conquest, and now they can't, and worse other people want to deathball on their conquest mode!! It's terrible, why would anyone bring something slower then 90kph and no cap accel modules to a conquest match?!!

Group 2 hated conquest mode, and wanted to just fight instead, and belly aches about the couple(like 2) mechs that run off to cap and blame them for losing the match because they didn;t fight. This group would rather lose to a cap while spectating dead after a fight then move from their default lemmings predestined path to hamburger hill, ****** rock, etc(the "center")

IMO these two groups were in a minority(by far) and the rest of us just deal with it. Honestly, the only bad matches I have are when the team is just... #yolo. IMO, conquest tends to have the most herding of cats, but it is usually fine and you get extra space bucks so whatevs.

I actually like conquest and to a lesser extent, assault. I think that Skirmish is bland after the 30-thousandth time.

I really wish there were more match modes, but as things stand, the player base is pretty clearly only interested in the same tired old "Kill everything" for every single game.

As a Single-Player gamer, I die a little inside each time I remember what the multiplayer community is like. It's ridiculous how much we want "new content", but it's never really new content, anyway. Sure, a new map, but doing the exact same crap as the last one. Kill everybody, get the fireworks out because this is a NEW AND FRESH GAMEPLAY EXPERIENCE! Posted Image

Personally, I think that Skirmish, Assault, and Conquest should be randomly selected and force-fed down players' throats. This way, they're not voting on a map or playstyle made specifically to cater to their builds, and we might see some more well-rounded designs instead of one-trick-pony boats and powerbuilds. I'd love to see more mission types, like having one player be the "Baron" that needs to be safely escorted; or "Cross the line" missions where one team has to breach the defences of the other; or capture missions where mechs that have hand actuators can grab crates scattered randomly around the match and bring them back to HQ, but different weights mean that some can be captured by light mechs, but others need an assault to do the job... but as long as the community is run to be an e-sport "For competitive gamers only", those of us who just want a Battletech game and screw the leaderboard get stiffed.
