The Blackjack is being tweaked this upcoming patch with a reduction of armor bonuses. We will also see the release of the Rifleman, a very similarly shaped mech..... Has the last month of Blackjack superiority just been a test for PGI to pre-balance the Rifleman? One that also increase the demand, and purchase, of said mechs?

The RFL got no significant durability and laser quirks.

We should have said repeatedly that it will be DOA and we won't buy it so PGI would give it better offensive quirks. Either that or they have "learned their lessons".

They never stopped nerfing the BJ . everyone forgets it had a major nerf for exchange of a little.bit of armor. Then they nerfed it again and again.

please don't forget they buffed the hell out of it first. This is more of bringing it back in line. And if it then looks behind it, maybe it can see the vindicator now. far away.

They buffed the hell out of it because a year ago no one ran it just like the QuickDraw. Im going to guess both of these over the next month will go mia again. Rescale might save the QuickDraw but the bj is finished unless they change ac2 for ac5.

that is not true. Blackjacks were used as mobile jumping ac20 carriers and made a good job with that. Quickies were always rare and bad. I know it, being one of those 6 or so quickdraw drivers before the quirkening.

Even a rescale, while needed, won't help a 60ton mech, something all the rifleman owners will learn in the next week.

This back and forth with balancing..

How could they not have known that giving top weight Heavy internal structure on a medium was a bad idea..

Maybe for 3/4 of what was given, Arrow should have been the only one, majority of it should have been CT & legs.

Nerfing the crap out of the Blackjack because it was OP for a month.

To balance things out they are tweeking the Cheetah...jump jet animations.

It had structure quirks as good as the MAD-3R, a 75 tonner, turning it into the tankiest medium in the game. I've driven black jacks off and on for years, but these quirks were absurd. Frankly, so are the MAD-3R.

The only nerfed the BJ-1X, and it's still one of the best BJ variants mechs in the game.

I have the feeling we have abandoned all balancing and turned to flavor of the month mechs completely. Just so people always buy the latest superquirk mech. Ther you have your conspiracy...

I hesitate to attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. PGI's fails at balancing is well known to us vets.

I have a feeling that even with the machine gun rate of fire buff, I'm still going to want to keep them off of my Arrow in favor of three large lasers and a std 235. Even with the damage output of 7.2 machine guns(5.76 dps), the horribly restrictive range just doesn't seem to be useful except in lucky circumstance.

How many jumping BJ do you see being used? Only BJ being used is the bj1x because its fast and is only a 45ton mech

Not to mention the horribad cone of fire. Beyond 80 meters, over half the shots can miss the target section of the enemy mech. One of the best examples of PGI's incompetence.

I quite like my jumping BJ-1 with dual AC2s and MLs. It even got a RoF buff in the upcoming patch, though things would become really interesting should Russ finally give us the AC2 cooldown module. Posted Image

Actually, BJ-3 has been the go-to variant after the latest pass because of the 20% generic range quirk. Once the range and structure nerfs hit, dunno, maybe you'll see the 6xML 2xMPL BJ-1X in the pub que once in a while.

Hardly a significant showing of incompetence, but I know your salt runs hot so it's okay. I'm very much looking forward to the AC2 buff and eventually module though, I already love using it as is with that massive range.
