I would like to make an appeal to PGI to look into reducing the visual effect of ballistic's muzzle flash. (I did not see it addressed in the patch notes, so if it was, I must have missed it and I apologize.)

Several mechs, like the LCT-PB and MAL-MX90, have ballistic weapon mounts close to the cockpit, and will completely blind you when fired.

Machines guns in particular create a never ending, blinding flash that make it impossible to pilot the vehicle without having 50% or more of your cockpit obstructed by it.

Do you have any mechs with near-cockpit ballistic mounts?

The ballistic flash is perfect the way it is. Changing it would be a misstep.

I don't think you understood.

It blinds you. AC/5+ might be fine because they do not fire quickly enough to matter, but AC/2 and MGs prevent you from SEEING THE ENEMY.

the lct-pb's machine gun slots are completely unusable. sure you can stick an ac2 in there, but thats not very useful, kills your armor, cant carry any ammo and for a measly 2 point alpha. at least make the flashes smaller there or move the guns a little farther from the cockpit.

The only mech where it bothers me is the Pirate's Bane Locust, because you basically can't use the ballistic hardpoints for anything at all besides MGs. It's kind of a problematic if you're running a 4MG Kit Fox too.

For the Mauler? Meh, get rid of those MGs, m8 :D

For me, it is very blinding, I am night blind, I also wear glasses that are designed to help with the night blindness. So because they focus light on to my retina, the MG flash blinds me big time. I have to remove them from my PB if I want to pilot it. Also one other way to F me up is to flamer me.

I realize 6 MG or 6 AC/2 Mauler isn't very good, but that isn't the point I am attempting to make.

Good news for you, Flamer visual effects are being toned down..

I heard being an impertinent **** didn't add anything to any discussion.

Looks like you didn't get my point.

My point was that the muzzle flash on some ballistic mechs is yet another factor that makes ballistics less desireable to use, while the dominant "laser vomit" doesn't have to deal with that issue.

Then I apologize.

But you might want to revise the way you express sarcasm. It is not working.

The Shaq Hawk 2H with Tri AC2s, stagger fired.

You cannot see what you shoot...but I'm alright with that. The sound is amazing.

I do have mechs with ballistics poking into the cockpits view..... and I also love it.

In fact that's the only reason I have those mechs, so I can watch my guns spews fire.

Some times I don't even look at the mech I'm shooting at, I just point in their direction and hold the fire button to watch the light show.

No joke.

1) 6xAC/2 mauler is a god damned beast.

2) If you have the stones to use a 6MG mauler, you win just based on how much fun you're probably having. Screw the score board.

I hate the ballistics visual effects... Muzzleflashes are short, and often imperceptible to the human eye. The flash simply sticks around too long in MWO.

We can have both. I'm not suggesting they remove muzzle flash, but simply reduce the effect so it doesn't blind the rest of us.

I've tried both. They're fun, but they're gimmicks. I like my MX-90 with 2x AC/10 and 2x LL with an STD325. Good enough support brick.

I might consider the 6 MG approach if the MX90 got the 20% MG refire buff next patch.

As a Tier 5 AC/2 spamlord, I have experienced the awesome strobe effect of having my field of view completely dominated by muzzle flashes. While I can live with it, I wouldn't mind if they reduced the severity of it a bit.

I agree -- you can add the shadowhawk to that group... mgs in the torso weapon mounts or AC2s will blind you.

After 5 years it still PAIN to eyes to play on MAL with 6xAC-2
Same problem with Bushwaker with 2xRACs
It literally bad for health. Do anyone know settings or script that toned down this muzzle flash?
And PGI, please, make this flash less (Atleast by quirks or some consumable fire suppressor, I don't know. But there need to be done something with it).

It brings degree of real life problems to the 'Mechs with godlike mounts on the shoulders. Maybe not proper part of the balance, but it works.
