I use Targeting Computers on all of the IIC mechs and some of the Invasion chassis. I'm not home now but itching to know how the change has effected them. Has anyone tried them out? Is there a noticeable change?

Update: Played a few rounds last night in Highlander IIC's with Targeting computers. Had varying success. Here are two of the better rounds I had. Don't know if I can chalk this up to the TC. However, the range and balistics boost is kinda nice.

Considering that the TC7 takes up more tonnage than THREE Medium Wubs, I don't think it's really a worthy sacrifice.

Depends on the 'Mech.

Kira built an EBJ with six C-MPL, crazy cooling ability, and a TC7 and...well, it's a fantastic poke 'Mech.

I am experimenting with my EXE's and TC1

I will move on to my TW later it has a TC IV

6 CMPL + TC7 = 19 tons and 13 crits
6 CERML + 2 CLPL = 18 tons and 10 crits

Out-pokes (but with less damage) and then pretty nearly keeps up at CMPL range, with the extra damage of the CLPL if it needs them in a brawl.

I didn't say it was better than the most optimized build, I just said it was fantastic. Because it is.

what Mech we talking because some kind of way you have to factor in heat sinks

On an EBJ, you will get 24 using the CLPL+CERML and 23 using the TC7+CMPL. The advantage to the CMPL is having the ability to fire the full alpha more frequently and with a shorter burn than you would get while firing that same alpha on the other build with ERML at the heat-line. The CLPL build, however, gives you dramatically better range, and a whopping 68-point alpha to the 48 on the CMPL build. I would say that the CLPL one is more flexible, which is why it's better, but within the CMPL's optimum I think it's going to come down to the pilot far more often than not.

SMN with erppc, uac10 tc3 is fun those velocity bonus's plus tc velocity bonus add up nicely.... still not sure its worth the 3 tons though

You're forgetting laser duration though. The latter build you listed has > 1s duration, while the CMPL version has < 1s duration.
