As a Taurian, I have no love of the Star League or the Terran Hegemony, but will postulate that if the Camerons hadn't been so insistent on recentering the geographic, economic, and socio-political nexus of the Human Sphere around Terra humanity wouldn't be in it's current predicament. The 26th century onward would just be another long extension of the Age of War, the Inner Sphere would have continued to simmer with low-intensity warfare, and the Terran Hegemony would probably still exist today. There would be no acceleration of technological development without the Star League, but no dark age without it's inevitable collapse and subsequent Succession Wars either. And who knows? Still divided, we might have explored other branches of technology that the Terrans either pruned or neglected whilst dictating the course of human development.

For the Terran Hegemony, the Camerons who ruled it, and Star League empire they founded, I have but one epitaph:
Fatum Iustum Stultorum; these idiots got what was coming to them.
