GMan's builds are guidelines, not always hard-and-fast definitive solutions to the meta. For a chassis this new, he's still spit-balling with the rest of us, anyway.

Personally, I'd rather not get caught out at 74 on a field where the best heavies run with a 15 kph advantage on that and the Mediums with a 20-25 kph advantage. Choosing between 17x DHS @ 81 kph or 19x DHS @ 74 kph, I choose the former.

And here's another SJR member's reply to the above:

The build quoted is actually from GMan's (one of SJR's top players) master guide. He typically favors short engagement high alpha builds so that is very likely exactly what he actually runs.

He actually tends to prefer more heat efficient builds than full alpha oriented mechs. There are a few of us that run builds that run larger/hotter alphas.

absurdity / nova in water, one of the best NA players out there was running a 5 or 6 ERLL tdr-5ss for scrims and did extremely well it. For me though it was far too slow and I personally prefered to limit the ERLLs to just 3. The point though is that skilled players can make those specialised builds work, while for others they are just suicide to run.

That's slow but with range. Gyrok's build is just slow.

And yes, I'm well aware that skilled players can make specialized builds work. I do it all the time. I think almost everybody at T2+ does.

Again that's no gyroks build. He is mearly linking to the one gman posted. FYI I've run the same build and I feel it's quite workable as long as you stick purely to midrange and avoid moving in too close

Gyrok's, Gman's, doesn't matter.

And yes, it's workable. It's not like an untweaked 280 RFL runs much faster than the tweaked 255, and those are passable, too.

Or maybe, it was never a serious problem outside PUG queues.....

Considering for the most part there wasn't a separate que for pugs?

That may be the case, but comp play was still around through sync-dropping, and none of it involved spiders.

A) Despite that I would still rate the RFL above the dragon, the orion and the maddog. It also generally performs better than the summoner and overall is a more consistent performer than the jag.

Thank you, I needed the laugh. No seriously, did you just say that?

B ) spider hitboxes were just something bad players used to justify their bad aim. Good players never had much trouble hitting them and especially not after the HSR fixes last year. But feel free to prove me wrong by posting all your spider videos showing that they are impossible to hit. Because pretty much everytime the video shows it is just bad aim.

Again, where do you get this material? Do you write it yourself?

Next you will deny there ever was a lurm-aggeddon. And say that when the Atlas had a head hitbox the size of a pregnant watermelon it was actually an excuse for people who aimed really really good.

Keep posting. This is good stuff!
