Hey, I'm sitting in an ER, waiting to find out if the docs have destroyed my mom's kidneys, I could use the popcorn and distraction.
I'm actually at the point is enjoy an IRL interaction with just about any dbag, just to relieve some stress and frustration of your catch my meaning.

Imperious it's debatable, it is purely up to what the devs think we need. If they say looking for a Clan Assualt Battlemech we have a good chance. If any other class or omni design then we wait till they need another Clan assualt Battlemech

-??? Medium omnimech from pre 3052
-Nova Cat 70ton omnimech (totem)(3059)
-Mad Cat MkII 90ton battlemech (3066)
Bit of a mixed omni/battle mech pack that is half in the timeline half not.

it doesnt fall under the same exception made for the kodiak because at least a variant of the kodiak exists in the current timeline.
there is no deimos variant at all in 3052. likewise, the madcat mk2 doesnt have an existing variant in 3052 either. neither of those mechs should be added to the game.
It would be really stupid if they started adding entire mechs that just dont belong...

I'm sure I missed a few. Note this is based on production date at or before 3053 - as we are in 3053 now. TRO dates do not necessarily line up with them.

But it's "currently" 3053. Mid '60's is not 3053, which is why the Shadow Cat omnipods or the Kodiak's variants work. The base chassis exists within the time frame.

Did Russ himself ever specify that a base variant had to be 3050, or is this just a forumwarrior speculation?

Honestly? It's still open to interpretation as near as I can tell. To me it read like "if the mech exists now, future variants are OK if they use current tech." Unfortunately, Russ was not the most specific in his wording. :\
Given how unsure anything is, I'd go with what has precedent. IE: Timeline appropriate MECH, but not necessarily variants thereof. We currently do not have any base chassis that exist out of timeline.

I'd use Medium Pulses in the ST's to help eat weight faster than slots, but then they won't synchronize with the hardwired ERML very well.
Why the heck do Clan assault Omni options have to be so limited. :\
