I hope in the future:

1) The legs will be blown off
2) they could be picked up and used as clubs

this is the way the game has been since day 1!

That's been arms, I don't know about legs.

HAHAHAHA if you honestly think they would punish people for actually having good aim, you really need help. In fact some of the best mech pilots I have seen in Mech4 would routinely blow every limb off a mech except one leg and leave it hobbling around with one or two lasers. That was the easiest way to render a mech useless in a respawn match. If its a single death match the fastest way to kill most mechs besides head shots was concentrated fire on center torso, not blowing the legs off. Untill people started putting minimal armor on their MK2 madcats then it was faster to leg them and go.

There should be no RESTRICTIONS to aiming - it should on the other hand be HARD to hit that small target that is the actual cockpit.
As for legging. The only reason to NOT shoot at head and legs is simply to take out the things your enemy is shooting at you with - his weapons.

I will DEFINITELY shoot people in the face and legs for money - ESPECIALLY if they WHINE about it.
Grow a pair (ovaries or balls, doesnt matter), learn to dodge and shoot ME in the face or legs if it gives you an advantage.

Remember, this is a WAR simulation, not a damn paintball or dodgeball game.

I recall the rules being about limbs in general. in facts, many mechs have no arms but every mech has at least 2 legs.

I think someone was mentioning that an account might get flagged if they get like 100 headshots in a row or something. Wasn't a dev though.

There was some discussion about people potentially using skinning to "hack" the mechs making it easier to target head and/or other vital areas - this, of course, would be blatant cheating and would -most likely- end up being fairly seriously punished, if it's even able to be done by the time the game is in full release.

That said, if you're not cheating, headshotting is 100% viable, approved and even recommended if you're good at it. :D

I think I see where this is going, are you inquiring about aim-bot prevention measures? If so I too am curious.

I don't see why there would be restrictions. Tagging a moving target in the head is pretty difficult. Legs may be a bit easier but if they are standing still to be targeted thats thier fault.

My thoughts too. He must have seen something that looked like "too many headshots will get you banned" meaning someone had some haxxors, etc.

There are no such restrictions. Heading a mech will be much harder than you probably think right now. With all of the bobbing and weaving between you and your opponent while still trying to dodge their incoming fire and get off a precise shot, you should congratulated if you're good enough to get a head shot, period. As to the Atlas having too big a head and easily targeted, that's speculation and another issue entirely, but of course should be addressed if that's the case. But no, never condemn crackshot pilots who can pull off that kind of precision.

As far as legging, I could care less if the leg "falls off" or not. Should a mech automatically fall when a leg is destroyed? Definitely. But as long as the mech limps and its speed is cut down to next to nothing then I'm happy.

put it this way, If you have every played CA, you will understand what im talking about,

If someone joins the room and just starts to knife the air and headshot everyone then it is a hack,

In this case they are saying that is a mech joins the room and starts to shoot and EVERYshot is a kill shot to the head or a Repetition Shot the Leg That it is most likely a hack,

There isnt going to be a action taken if it is a random accurance and infact it is better for you to aim at these area's, If you are good enough to do it, But as for the people having to hack to do it they will suffer most likely * EPIC DRAMATIC PAUSE ADD IN THUNDER* THE BANN HAMMER !!!!!!

From everything I've seen so far, I'd say that heads and legs will be restricted. Mechs will likely be restricted to one head and two legs.

If it is part of the mech, it is a target! Taking a mech down with a headshot is not an easy thing , nor is hitting the legs of a 100kph lighthen in top gear. Take your hits when and where they come. The pilot controls the reticle, not some random number table. Success will be measured by what a pilot does in the cockpit, not by a roll of the dice. Thank goodness!
